New Moto g7 Power - very low sound

2019-06-22, 17:54 PM

I just bought a brand new moto g7 power phone.  Everything works great, except the ring tone, text tone, all sounds are very very low like about 1/4 of what they should be, and obviously I can't hear calls or texts coming in.  When people call me, I can barely hear them.

I did a factory reset, it didn't work.  I did a factory reset with the sim card and sd card out, no dice.  I did a factory reset and didn't log in or transfer or sign in just skipped everything, not working.

I called motorola, their option is for me to pay the price of a new phone for them to send me a phone to replace this apparent lemon.  Or I can send my new lemon phone to them and after whatever, 5, 10 days they will send me a new phone.  Total insanity.

Is there a way to fix this or should I just return the phone and get a different brand?  Not impressed with Motorolo equipment or policies at this point hoping there is a fix.

Hi Joe_K,

Thanks for posting. I appreciate all the things you've tried. I'd like to confirm, did you restore your apps/files right after doing the factory data reset? Also, did you notice when you purchased the phone the volume was already low?

Best regards,

The phone was this way out of the box. The first two factory resets I restored the apps, the last one I did not.

2 person found this solution to be helpful.

This helped me too

B&H is sending a new phone to replace this one. Obviously just a defective phone or if something can be done nobody knows. Hoping the new phone is louder, my old g5 was not quite loud enough, write ups say the g7 is louder which is one of the reasons I bought it.

Moto G7 Power Sound Problem

2019-07-14, 3:54 AM

Ello folks,

Recently I purchased the phone noted in the title.

Anyway I noticed every single sound plays from only the ear piece. Is this the norm for those who own the Moto G7 Power

If I'm wrong and there is a working external speaker, that is not the ear piece; please explain where and/or to fix this. T-Moble

tech support told me that in fact there IS a speaker and it's supposed to work not just in the ear piece then I'm told to go to the local

T-mobile store and get a new phone and that the phone is defective. While speaking at the T-Mobile store not only does the guy there tell me that this is normal, he also was able to create the same sound issue with the display model as well. So to recap everything in terms of sounds the device plays comes out of the little speaker you put your ear by. I've yet to find nor note where even a speaker phone would be. Thank You In advance for any help or advice. Please read the FYI's before responding.

FYI's
As you can see my grammar sucks.
Sorry about long user-name, Can't edit it.
I made the text bold, so I can see it.

Hi ThatSailor,

Thanks for the post. I'd like to confirm, does it happen with media and calls? Try testing the speaker in the Moto Help app > Diagnosis > Hardware Test > Speaker. Let me know the result. Thanks.

I have this same problem and my phone is 4 days old. I did your suggestion and went to Moto help diagnosis hardware and tested speaker. The sound is extremely better there. But then I played a video on YouTube and it sounded like a whisper.

Hi Heatherjk76,

Does it only happen with Youtube? How about other media apps? Kindly try testing this on safe mode.

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.

Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode.

Re: New Moto g7 Power - very low sound

Hey everyone, Moto g7 - very low incalling ring sound besides I can adjust the volume in the settings but it is still very low when receiving calls, on top I cannot make it work with the default Moto sound which was very loud, it keeps on another sound which I did not chose.

I cannot find a way to reset only the sound, is there any way to fix it? Btw the telephone did work properly when I bought it.

Regards
