Moto Z Play wireless charging receiver

2019-10-17, 13:49 PM

Does anyone have experience using a wireless charging receiver with a mod capable (Z) phone? There are lots of wireless charging receivers out there but I'd like to choose one that works with this type of phone. I think the receiver would need a fairly long connection between the type C USB connector and the receiver coil so that the coil isn't too close to the moto mod connections. I don't understand why Motorola stopped selling their wireless no-battery moto mod.

I have a similar issue. The phone was working fine for the last two months. Yesterday I connected a headset and used it for a while. Now, the volume of every activity on the regular speaker is very low. However, if I connect to the headset then it sounds OK. Looks like some h/w issue causing this.

Hi balq,

I'm a little odd here. Can you please confirm, are you using a Bluetooth headset or a wired headset? When you connect the headset the sound should go through the headset's speaker, are you referring to headset's speaker or the phone's speaker? I'd like to help isolate this, have you tried testing the speaker via Device Help app > Diagnosis > Hardware Test > Speaker? Let me know. Thanks.

Best regards,

I used a wired headset. Not bluetooth. I am referring to wired headset in my previous references and not a bluetooth one.

Hi balq,

Has the speaker been low like that before? Can you check if you can reproduce the same sound volume on safe mode?

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.
Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode.

Test the speaker sound using Youtube/Google Play Music and in the Device Help app.

Let me know if there's an improvement. Thanks.

I tried to download the Moto decide help for the same issues, but it says my phone isn't compatible. I also have a G7 power.

New Moto g7 Power - very low sound

2020-01-28, 15:23 PM

Hello, I recently purchased a Moto g7 power and I have noticed that the phone is very quiet. Wether it is a phone call, playing music through Spotify or YouTube or an alarm the sound seems very low to me. It has been this way since I took it out of the box. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this?

Hi Mwat93,

Moving your post on this thread. I'd like to understand more about this, can you please confirm if this is specific to volume level? If it's the way it is right out of the box then I would test and compare it with another G7 Power available in the store. Considering some third-party apps, can you test if there improvement in safe mode.

To Enable Safe Mode
1. Press and hold the Power button until Power off comes up on the screen.
2. Touch and HOLD Power off on the screen until reboot to safe mode appears.
Just turn off and on the phone to boot back to normal mode.

You can stream or play music in Google Play Music and Youtube. Third-party apps are disabled while in this mode.

Re: New Moto g7 Power - very low sound

My Dad received a Moto G7 Play as a gift last week. At first, the ringtone was very loud but suddenly became very low. His hearing is very weak and cannot even hear the phone ring, now. I rebooted the phone to safe mode, but the volume was still very low. What should I try next?
