Not getting basic security updates Moto G7 Power

2020-06-10, 6:17 AM
I know it is useless to beg for Android 10 on my G7 Power but can I at least get the security updates for Android 9. I have received nothing since August 2019. I have even done a factory reset to try to get past Android 9 august 2019 security update and nothing.

Hi ech72,

Thanks for the post. I'd like to check this. Can you please update your profile with the current phone, carrier and serial number -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > System > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

See here for the instruction.

Best regards,
Rich

Hi Agen_Rich, Thank you for helping me with this small issue. I have updated my profile with the requested serial and phone info. My carrier is not listed. I bought the phone retail unlocked in MediaMarkt in Poland. I currently live in Latvia and use LMT but did not buy from them as I said. I am Canadian just to make it funny and more complex. and yes you can look at my apps and stuff to help me.

Moto G7 Power doesn't update (last: PPOS29.114-134-2)

2020-06-22, 6:52 AM

Hi, I have an issue with my moto G7 power. I bought it on January, It was updated regularly until April 2020 when It was replaced on warranty. The new phone (same model XT1955-4) was initiated 2 weeks ago and I think it received the first update (August 2019) but no more have been received.

Currently I have the update PPOS29.114-134-2 (RETEU channel) and the system "is up to date", but I know new updates are availables (my previous phone received it). I have tried a factory reset, remove the SIM and check updates with wify with no results. I have tried use the LMSA, the app detects my phone and I can do backups, but I can't rescue the OS (matching firmware fails or phone is unsupported).

I contacted support but the only solution provide me is to send the phone to be repaired. I have bad experiences with technical service (they lost my previous phone) and I wouldn't want to have to send him for this.

Is there no other way to force updates? or restart the phone to start to update again?

Current security patch: 1 August 2019

Current compilation: PPOS29.114-134-2

Base band: M632_26.100.01.120.01R OCEAN_ROWDSDS_CUST

Spain SIM-Operator

Thanks

Hi @Agent_Rich , thanks for your reply.

I've updated my profile, the carrier is Lowi (is a spanish OMV owned by Vodafone group). I checked the Motorola Privacy and both options are activated (Improve products and Improve device support). Yes you can check the settings and apps in case there is a problem.

Thanks
