Read PDF files on the phone

2020-09-17, 3:16 AM

I have some auto manuals on my computer in PDF format. I did seem to copy a couple of them to my phone, but canceled out the rest. I don't see them, and don't know where they went or if they did. I see a lot of PDF readers on Android Apps. Any recommendations. Also is there anyway to send them to my SD card. These new cars have so many manuals they fill up the glove box, and putting them on the phone and with a program that will let one search for words within would be great.

Try Xodo PDF Reader & Editor. Works well for PDFs (maybe not so well for Docs). I have no affilation :-)

This ad-free multi-format reader is the one I use,

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=levi.document.reader&hl=en_GB

When looking for things on your phone open your file manager and click on the Spyglass icon and type something: In this case pdf to search for any.

I find the stock File mangers limited  so use this ad-free one,

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cxinventor.file.explorer&hl=en_GB

Thanks for the recommendations. Still trying to figure out which to use, all nice. I am old and not a big time cell phone user. Today was the first time I even new I could upload pdf files. etc. I got all 9 manuals for our new Outback on the phone now, and I like reading up on the million and one things the car has. Whew. Wish I could rename the manuals to make it easier to figure out what each one relates to.

There are free online pdf editors where you can change the names etc. Just put Free online pdf editor into a search engine.

I've tried several, and none can rename a file. Think it's locked in.

They're not writing to the SD card, just reading.
Why that's happening might be tricky to fix.
If the PDFs are on phone storage you can rename them & then transfer to card or rename them at source.
So if you're downloading them you should be able to call them what you want (XYZ.pdf) or if you have them on your computer rename them there or rename copies.

OK, on the computer, a little Google search said to right click on the file near the bottom select rename, and rename them. Duhhhhh. I done this a million times with other files, didn't think it would work with PDF files. Well, it does. All done with this string.
