Volumes tied together

2020-07-13, 16:07 PM
Hi. Just got a g7 Supra. Seems like a great phone except for one major problem. I want to turn down notification volume when I need to sleep so I don't get hammered by my family's texts. I want phone calls to come in because they are usually important. Whenever I turn down the notification volume, the ring volume goes down too. Is there a way to set them separately, or did I buy a horribly flawed product?

I might be easier to setup your,"Do Not Disturb" rules to only allow what you want at night :)

HTH :)

Hi Paul-of-Yakima,

You can try the suggestion of Porphyrius. Also, I checked this, there's no option to separate the notification volume from the ringing volume. It's a stock Android feature. Thanks.

Best regards,

Thanks. The options for Do Not Disturb are miserable (I had already tried it). But thank you for the suggestion. And my previous Android did not have them tied together, so it's specific to the phone or to the Android version. I can't think why anyone would think limiting options in this manner is a good idea. But thank you for the info.

Google notifed all Android licensees and developers, including Motorola, that, starting with the rollout of Android 6, the phone ring and notification volume settings would be tied together.  Your previous phone which included independent level sliders has enjoyed a long life, but that era is long gone.

I think I remember seeing some apps on the Playstore that could help called something like notification picker :)
