WiFi performance with Bluetooth on

2019-03-23, 9:26 AM

I have had the G7 Power for a few weeks and notice that WiFi reduces to an unusable speed when Bluetooth is on.

Without Bluetooth I get around 50mbps but with Bluetooth on it reduces to below 2 which is no good for streaming etc.

I've tried different routers (I must have 2.4ghz due to legacy devices), rebooting routers, full factory reset on the G7 but still the Wifi performance is unacceptable. I appreciate the speed may drop slightly but not to the extent it currently does.

Had anyone come across this on the G7 Power and have any remedies?

Regards

Matt

Check if BT scanning is on for location services - BT uses 2.4ghz as does wifi B/G

Please keep us updated on the results. In the meantime, I'd like to get some more information to help investigate.

  1. Please provide the WiFI Make/Model/Band/Channel on one of the routers
  2. Please provide 2 bug reports one with Bluetooth on and one with Bluetooth off. Steps for bug reports below.

1. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap on Build number 7 times on the build number to go into the developer options mode]
2. After the above steps, Developer options will be enabled.
3. Go to Settings ->Developer options -> Enable Usb debugging > Toggle On
4. Enable Settings -> Developer options -> Enable Bug Report shortcut > Toggle On
5. Enable Settings -> Developer options -> Enable Wi-Fi Verbose Logging > Toggle On
6. Once the issue is reproduced, Go to Settings -> Developer options -> Click on take bug report or Press Power button and then choose Bug Report from the Power down menu.
7. Wait for some time until the bug report is collected. It takes around 3 to 4 minutes to collect the Bug Report.
8. Then upload the BugReport to your personal Google Drive and then share the link to the BugReport on the forums in a reply or via a private message.
9. Provide observations of what you saw happen right before the bug report was taken. Please indicate the time that you observed the behavior in local time.

I noticed the wifi issue and found switching from 2.4ghz to 5ghz wifi resolved the issue with wifi on. I went back to 2.4ghz wifi and turned Bluetooth off. As expected the wifi worked fine. It does seem to be an interaction between 2.4ghz wifi and Bluetooth.
