Warranty registration problems?

Just tried to register my new G8 on the UK site. Put in serial number, site searches then comes back and says "you have no devices".

Put in IMEI and it says invalid number. Numbers taken from the phone after *#06#.

Please update your profile with current phone, carrier and IMEI -- this will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Motorola Privacy are on as well, and let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems.

I have checked the privacy seting and it is fine for you to do what you need to do.

I have managed to add the device on "My Stuff" however the phone is out of warranty. To add it in My Stuff, please make sure you are in the UK Motorola website and make sure you enter the first 15 digits of the IMEI. We suggest to contact Motorola UK support to have the warranty adjusted and provide a valid proof of purchase. Here is a link on how to contact them: https://support.motorola.com/uk/en/contactus

How can a new phone be out of warranty?

Are you suggesting it is not new?

 

I was certainly in the UK registration website.

 

So I logged in to the UK website and no phone listed in "My Stuff". However on this occasion the IMEI number did work, so it is now listed.

I havw queried why the phone is out of warranty.

We are not suggesting that the phone you have received is not new but it could an error on the warranty status. That can be easily adjusted once you have reported this to your local Motorola Support and provided them a valid proof of purchase.

I would very much like to know how a phone I have only just purchased is flagged as out of warranty.

It suggests the phone has a history which I don't know.
