Ghost touch since Android 11

2021-07-19, 10:22 AM

Hello, after update to Android 11 my moto g9 play started having annoying ghost touch issues, usually after screen unlock or especially during the calls, it types randomly, turns on off buttons on notif area, loud speaker during calls. Screen is totally clean and issue started appearing exactly after update from android 10. It seriously affects me. Apart from that great phone!

I've got the exact same issue. Is there a fix for this?

Hi user0123, mallerina7

Welcome to Motorola Forums. Sorry to hear you're having screen problems with your phone. I will do my best to help you with this. Since the failure started after an update, I would suggest you try doing the factory data by taking all data backup. I hope it helps. Please go through the link here for reset instructions and click here for backup instructions. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks

Sunitha

Hi seemarr

Your efforts are highly appreciated. I would suggest you try removing the case or screen protector if you have inserted it. That might be interfering with the proximity sensor and the touchscreen may experience issues if the sensor is covered. Let me know how it goes after removing the screen protector.  Meanwhile, I will also report this to the concerned team to look at it.

Thanks

Sunitha

Hi Rajender,

Thank you for checking. We would like to investigate this further. Could you please generate a bug report and share it with us? Please find the instructions below to generate the bug report:

To enable developer options:

  1. Go to Settings > About phone > Build number
  2. Tap Build number seven times. After the first few taps, you should see the steps counting down until you unlock the developer options. Once activated, you will see a message that reads, “You are now a developer!”
  3. Go back to Settings, where you’ll find a Developer options entry in the menu

Steps on how to generate a Bug Report:

Go to Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Developer options -> Enable USB debugging > Toggle On

Enable Settings ->System -> Advanced -> Developer options -> Enable Bug Report shortcut > Toggle On

Once the issue is reproduced: Go to Settings -> System -> Advanced ->Developer options -> Click on take bug report or Press Power button and then choose Bug Report from the Power-down menu.

Wait for some time until the bug report is collected. It takes around 3 to 4 minutes to collect the Bug Report.

Then upload the Bug Report to your personal Google Drive and then share the link of the Bug Report via Private Message.

Provide observations of what you saw happen right before the bug report was taken.

Please indicate the local time when you observed the behavior.

Thanks

Sunitha

I'm having the same problem. The calculator comes on and off, the flashlight comes on, it goes into airplane mode and numerous apps open and close at random.

I am not doing Motorola's job by doing a factory reset which won't work anyway. Why should it? A 11 is still installed and that is the problem.

What are you going to do about it Lenovo???
