Phone brightness issues

2020-10-24, 7:59 AM

Even when the adaptive brightness is turned off, when the phone is unlocked the brightness is very high and after a few seconds it restores to the set brightness level. I think many users are experiencing this.

If you are certain it's not your eyes adjusting to the screen brightness, you say the change takes a few seconds so that would be long enough to check brightness %.
You could set up a Settings widget to take you straight to Display settings to see what the % shows and also watch it change to your set %. If you do that and report back?

Try a Soft Reset. Press and hold power button in for around 10/15 seconds until the phone restarts. This emulates taking the Battery out and can sometimes fix these glitches.

HTH :)

It remains the same. I have kept the brightness at 34% and it remained unchanged as the brightness decreased and actually reached 34%.

I did soft reset and it's still the same.

Does it do it in,"Safe mode"?

Press Power button and long press on Shutdown menu and choose Safemode.

If it doesn't do it there it's usually a user installed app causing the problem.

Yes, this is a legit issue. After unlocking the phone, the brightness is higher than set manually, and then it comes back to normal after 2 seconds...the auto brightness is always OFF. It's very annoying, any fix to it?

I tried in safe mode as well and it was still happening. It was happening before I installed any other app.

I think it's a legit issue that motorola should fix in the next update.

Hello all,

I tried testing this on mine, and I do see a slight brightness change, but nothing extreme. Can you share a video showing this and a bug report after you experience it? I wonder if you're seeing something different than what I'm seeing on my device. Steps below for the bug report.

1. Enable Developer options (Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build number 7 times > enter PIN/Password)

2. Go into Developer options (Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options)

3. Enable/Toggle on the following item from Developer Options (Bug report shortcut)

4. Go back to your home screen.

5. Duplicate the issue. Once the issue is duplicated generate the bug report

6. Long Press the power button and choose Take bug report from the power menu

7. You will get a notification from Android system that a Bug report is being generated. Allow this to finish.

8. Once the report is completed you will have another notification that says Bug report #x captured Tap to share your bug report.

9. Tap on the notification > OK > Save to drive > if prompted Allow > Save

10. Once the report is uploaded to drive you will have a notification from Drive that says 1 file uploaded.

11. Tap on the notification > Tap on 3 dots to the right of the bug report file you just uploaded > Tap on share > Tap on lock on bottom left > Change > Viewer > Change again > Copy link

12. Share the link to the bug report here

-Tom
