SIM Toolkit not working after Android 12 update.

I got update yesterday and everything seems fine except SIM Toolkit. Here we have possibility for loging into all governmental services and banks via SIM Toolkit. But when I'm trying to use that option, i get notification com.adroid.phone keeps stopping and mobile network is disconnecting and connecting until i restart the phone. Help!

 Sorry to hear that you have a problem with the SIM toolkit. We'll do our best to help. We want to ask for some details.

 

  • Have you tried performing a factory reset after installing the update?
  • Have you tried removing the SIM card and putting it back in to see if the mobile data disconnection disappears? 
  • Would you please update your profile with your current phone, carrier, and serial number? It will help me investigate. Please make sure that the options under Settings > Motorola Privacy are on as well. Let me know (just reply here) if it's okay for me to look at your apps to see if they are a source of problems. Here's how to update your profile.

Hi!

No, I haven't done factory reset nor removed SIM card. I won't do restart for sure, but I could try taking sim card out. I don't think it will help. ANd phone doesn't only lose internet connection, it is losing network connection. Signal symbol is also going away and then comes back.

I don't like idea for you to check my phone. :-) This was just information that something is not working right. Maybe somebody else will have same problem and be little bit more helpful with giving you more information and approval to check their phone.

I can confirm this issue with my Moto Edge 20. I also have a Norwegian phone (provider is ICE.NO). As soon as the update was finished the SIM toolkit function that requests a password to confirm your ID stopped working. I have the same symptoms as OP: 1: A message comes up asking you to confirm a login by using the PIN code. 2: When I press OK the screen flashes for a second, but the input window is not displayed. 3: The mobile connection is broken (I have two SIMs, *both* are stopped even though th second SIM is on a different network) 4: After a little while there is a notification in the pulldown notification area asking you to provide the PIN, but nothing happens when you tap it. 5: The notification stays there until you restart phone. I have restarted and totally turned off phone, no difference. I can open the SIM toolkit application on its own and go into the different settings. However, after the PIN confirmation fails the app itself also stops responding. This function is used for almost all ID confirmation in Norway, so pretty vital! Arild

After the android 12 update sim toolkit don't work. It's important to me as i use it to identify myself in certain cases and it's really unfortunate it don't work!

When i try to identify myself by trough sim toolkit entire mobile network breaks and won't work until i restart the device, also sim toolkit won't even open. Website won't let me attach video to show what is happening unfortunately.

Is there a way to revert back to android 11? I really depend on sim toolkit!!!

So far there haven't been any other issues i noticed with android 12.

I received the Android 12 upgrade yesterday in India. I was able to open the SIM toolkit app after the upgrade. However, I did not try opening any of the options since those might have some hidden charges levied by the mobile operator.

Seems the issue you have reported is actually working fine for me. I am not sure if I understood the issue correctly though. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Where you able to enter a PIN in response to a remote request? That's the key issue here.

As for your question, I'm afraid you cannot downgrade or revert back to a previous software version after installing the recent update.

@adarsh76  Opening the sim toolkit settings work, but all functionality of it is gone after the update. Even breaking mobile network until restart

@Agent_Mike  That's unfortunate. I was also wondering how long we can expect to need to wait for fixes regarding severe issues?

I am not really interested in buying a new phone again hehe
