Hi motorola team.

I am facing touch issue as edge 20 didn't capture touch inputs properly. It happens randomly. I don't know what causing this issue, hardware or software. I am not using any protective layer. Hope it can be fixed by software update.

 

I am attaching two screen shots, one with no issues and second when I draw spirals it misses most of dots.

 

App: Touch screen test

Screen protection: No

tried everything I. could think of at first it worked on 144hz but for only short time I searched the internet to fix this but I got to the conclusion that its hardware problem where charge is leaking into the screen.

I can confirm this. While scrolling fast the display seems to loose contact and also while swiping links get opened as if the display recognizes a single touch instead of a swipe.

Hello all, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'd like to get this escalated. I'll need a few things. You'll first need to enable developer options (Settings > About Phone > Tap on the build number 7 times > put in your pin/password)

  • Turn on show taps in Developer Options (Settings > System > Advanced > Developer options > show taps)
  • Use the phone's screen recorder to record a video of this happening after you have Show taps enabled. (Upload to Google Drive, turn on link sharing, and share the link)
  • A bug report after you duplicate the issue. (Steps Below)

1. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Tap on Build number 7 times on the build number to go into the developer options mode]
2. After the above steps Developer options will be enabled.
3. Go to Settings ->System -> Advanced -> Developer options -> Enable USB debugging > Toggle On
4. Enable Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Developer options -> Enable Bug Report shortcut > Toggle On
5. Once the issue is reproduced, Go to Settings -> System -> Advanced -> Developer options -> Click on take bug report or Press Power button and then choose Bug Report from the Power-down menu.
6. Wait for some time until the bug report is collected. It takes around 3 to 4 minutes to collect the Bug Report.
7. Then upload the BugReport to your personal Google Drive and then share the link to the bug report on the forums in a reply.
8. Provide observations of what you saw happen right before the bug report was taken. Please indicate the time that you observed the behavior in local time.

Hi @MotorolaTom I have uploaded the log and I am uploading the video you can check the google drive link.

 

You can see the bug from Timestamp 17/09/21::12:08AM IST as soon as I opened the chrome image tab while scrolling.

 

And one thing more it happens mostly in right half of the screen

i can confirm this...even worse thing is happening with me I'm not even able to scroll the screen there are random touches and ghost touches every few minutes. i was writing this post on my phone but I had to switch to my laptop as the phone was causing soo many spelling mistakes on its own. its soo bad that I'm not even able to zoom in and zoom out if I'm trying to view a picture. even the multitouch is not working. I'm attaching the video and I will upload the bug report shortly.

2) bug report I was typing something on Twitter and google where the double types were happening, I also swipe on notification which instead of swiping was opened on its own
