Audio codec

2021-01-14, 2:18 AM

Does the Motorola edge plus support aptX TWS+ audio? I have a pair of earbuds that supports them but can't seem to get them to work in this mode on my phone.

Strike that last comment... after reviewing the comments above I now understand that you have to connect the phone to a music device via BT before the Codec options show up.  Looks like the Motorola Edge supports SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX HD.

Hi.

I'm checking on this. Not showing on our spec sheet but someone will know.

Regards,

Audio codec

I have one bluetooth headphone and two bluetooth speakers with aptx support, all works fine. However, my TWS like Galaxy buds, enco x, oneplus buds can only use SBC instead of AAC (they work with Pixel and OnePlus phones).

Hi.

Wow, so sorry I didn't get back to this. The Bluetooth codecs currently supported for edge+ are:

SBC (Mandatory)
AAC
aptX

aptX-HD

LDAC

Does this help?

Hi Matt

Where did you find this information?  I didn't think the Moto Edge+ had aptx HD, let alone aptx.

I would be very happy if it did!

Do I need to do anything to enable it?

Thanks!

Developer Options -> Bluetooth Audio Codec

aptX would get selected automatically for supported devices.

Hmmm.....

I had done a brief search and could only find that the Edge + had "high bit-rate support", as listed on the chart with this article...

https://www.androidauthority.com/best-of-android-mid-2020-audio-1135329/

Maybe there's been a software update?  Is there some way I could see if my Edge + truly has aptxHD, etc?

Thanks!

I found that, but only "Use System Selection (default)" is enabled, with a notation at the bottom "Grey-out means not supported by phone or headset".

"HD audio" is also greyed out and un-selectable.

Is there some way to change this?

Thanks!
