Hello, It appears many of us are having the same issue. Moto Support on Twitter directed me here. I've included a Google Drive link with photos of my screen. I just got this yesterday and I need to know if I should get another one or just wait. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1tl8CE560g9r2Zc3illXJAKITP8ksTxeQ

Glad to know I'm not alone with this issue. My new edge + started developing dark spots the became worse the longer the phone was in use. I contacted verizon & they sent a replacement & now 1 week out & the replacement has started doing the same thing. Is this something that will be corrected?

Here's my question now - I never carry device protection or insurance. Should I get that? If this alleged fix comes along after the 2-week window Verizon allows for return/exchange, am I going to be on the hook for Motorola/Lenovo's faulty equipment?

Hi.

Yes, we don't recommend replacing the phone. It won't help. However, there is a software update coming. It still needs to go through lab test before it can be distributed, but it does address this specific problem. In my personal experience, it does the trick.

I'm sure you want to know timing. The challenge is in the testing. We test because there is always a chance it will fail, which makes it impossible to predict. Unofficially, based on my own experience, I'd say very generally: more than a week, but far less than a month. Sorry I can't be more precise.

I understand that every owner will make his or her own decision here. This is a frustrating thing on a new, flagship phone. But I urge you to hold onto your phones and wait for the update. Do not replace them certainly as this is a software issue, not bad hardware.

(I'm going to mark this "solved," not because it's a final solution, but so others looking can find this without reading every post on this topic.)

Hope this helps.

-Matt

Chiming in here too. My 14 year old Edge just started doing this as well. It's much more noticeable when the screen is dimmer. On full brightness it isn't seen. But it looks almost like dead pixels or sand under the glass all along the right side, and wraps around the top of the screen too. One day last return period. Really disappointed :(

Will that update fix this green tint too? I can hold on to my device like this if I know the update will address it. My device is the european version (software channel RETEU).

Hi.

Sorry you're having this problem. I have seen, I think, one other similar to this. The honest answer to your question is "we're not sure." We encourage you to hold on to the phone and wait for the update. At that point, if it isn't corrected, we can take additional steps.

I recognize this is your call, but that's our recommendation.

Thanks,

Re:Screen issue

Hi, I've been having the same issues and am already on my second edge+, having returned the first one to Verizon after seeing blotches or shadows seemingly coming from inside on along the edges. The first edge plus that I had the was definitely much worse than the second one that I have now, however it is very unsettling to know that I have a brand new phone that already has issues & if I'm already on my second phone and I'm having these issues I can't believe they didn't pick this up in their development & testing of this phone. I did notice that when I raise the screen brightness to its highest level those shadows went away. However when I'm watching a movie or using GPS I am not changing the screen level and that is when it is most evident that there's an issue. Should I try for a third one or will there actually be an update to fix it.
