Windows 10 Explorer doesn't show phone icon

2021-04-16, 18:16 PM

Hi to all,

do i need to download specific usb drivers for Motorola Edge to show the phone icon in windows 10 explorer ?

While it now shows a generic "hard disk box" (horrible look) when I connect to the usb port.

Thanks

Ds

Thanks

I'm glad the file transfer portion is working. A bit confused by the icon. Mine is showing like this on my Windows 10 laptop

I'll be honest, I did poke around and found an iPhone user reporting the same thing you're seeing, but there was no solution. I'll keep poking around on the web to see what I can find, but this is going to be a Windows fix and not something with the phone. I'm curious, are you plugging directly into the computer or through a USB hub? I did see one report that this would happen for someone using a USB hub that had one of the ports misbehaving.

Let me know if you figure it out and I'll keep looking as well.

Hi Daniele Sgi,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your concern, Have you tried checking your phone's notification when you plug it to the PC? Try changing it to File transfer/MTP (Media Transfer protocol).

Best regards,
Zeke

Thanks for the feedback, this made me want to solve it...

I first connected MotoEdge to another notebook and there it was the icon ok, then I tried to use these USB drivers:

https://support.motorola.com/us/en/solution/MS88481

but I don't know if by pure chance, but now I see it as yours! ;D

Although I think they are useless with W10, but maybe they corrected an anomaly that I already had in the O.S., in fact in the end they are not used because W10 uses the originals
