Re:Has the 5G Ace Received a System Update Since Jan 1, 2021?

Is there an ETA for when we should expect new updates? It' weird to go from a phone that used to receive updates monthly to this brand new phone that still has the December security patch. One of the major reasons for upgrading phones is due to the fact that it had stopped receiving security updates, so imagine my surprise when my brand new phone, released January of this year, hasn' gotten any updates this year so far.

Hello,

Thanks for posting.  We never provide specific dates, but we are trying to get this out as quick as possible.

We appreciate your patience.

What should the current security patch level be? What is the latest SPL that has been approved for release for the Motorola one 5g Ace? What should we do if the SPL isn't updating on our phones? Can we get a refund if the SPL won't update? I can't use my phone because of this issue. I have to stay within two months of the current SPL for android  in order to use my phone.

Hello, the latest available update for the Ace is the March SPL. I know it doesn't help much immediately, but I'm escalating this from my end too. I'll do my best to keep this topic updated as I learn more.

Thanks,

Tom

Mine is 40-79 (April) and I got latest over OTA.

It's recommended to run ROM update through LMSA rescue before initial setup.

I'm not sure why Motorola doesn't push updates as soon as Google releases them, Motorola has the July 1 update listed on the Motorola web page, but my phone (One 5G Ace) is still on March.. why the delay?

Notice attached image showing the July 1 update, look at the URL in top of browser, it is Motorola.. let's get these phones up to date and let's keep them up to date in a timely manner.

It would be helpful to include your cell service provider, and what software channel you're on.

I can confirm that my motorola one 5g ace (on Verizon - not the UW model, purchased from Amazon) is on the North America Retail software channel.

I'm at SPL March 01 2021, Build number QZK30.Q4-40-79. When I check for an update - I'm told "Everything looks good". Kinda insulting.

When did you get the May patch pushed to your phone? The QZKS30 designation in your build number suggests to me you're probably on Tmo or ATT and you got the phone from the provider.

This problem is probably specific for people who bought a retail unlocked phone that didn't come from a cell provider.

Yes, it's a T-Mo locked ace. I will provide screen of more detailed info later if you would like to see.

In my case, I got it straight from Google, for Google Fi (which iirc piggybacks on T-Mobile's network).
