Re:Android 10

2020-03-21, 11:40 AM

As a UK citizen LIVING IN THE UK, just before we left the EU, I bought from Amazon.de a Motorola One Action on the basis of here was a great value Android One phone that was going to be kept up to date (having suffered from Android NOT being maintained on all my previous phones) and was imminently due Android 10 to enjoy!

On receipt it updated Android 9 through a few months updates to 9 with December 2019 security updates and since then NOTHING ie a far cry from the Moto advertised three years of monthly security updates etc .

I have chatted twice with Moto online and in mid-Feb got told just be patient 10 is rolling out and you'll get it in next 2 weeks.

Yesterday I got told to factory reset and if I didn't get 10 update within 24hrs I'd "will need to be sent for repair".

Any advice guys  ?

I've P/N PAFY0003DE

an XT2013-2 DE 4+128G BE DS

Software channel reteu

and seemingly stuck on Build number PSBS29.39-49-7-1

Update: I've done that factory reset and tried it both with and without a UK Three/3 Network SIM in - no change - still no updates :(
I have Google'd some mention of just being able to download relevant firmware - but what/where/from ?

Norway got Android 10 on this phone a long time ago... Probably some carrier issues as normal in the US?!?

Maybe try without the SIM card installed? Or, if you have a DE SIM card, that might help.

Has anybody in the United States. The Android 10 update for the Motorola one action unlocked us version. I bought this phone at Best buy about 10 days ago. But I've been having some touch sensitivity issues you got to press really hard on the keyboard. also what security patch do y'all have I have the January 2020 security patch. I would appreciate it if anybody has a different security patch than myself or Android 10. Weird or wrong I live in San Antonio Texas United States.

Hello,

Moto One Action in the US is not an Android One device. But Motorola is trying to treat it as one. No words on a release date for Android 10 though. At least not that I know of.

I'll reply on the touch sensitivity issues on the dedicated thread. I see you already posted there, as well. :)

@arsradu You are correct, it does say Android One like. This whole issue has been very confusing, I don't under why they would do this.

Me neither... That's why I asked Matt. Maybe he has some idea about it. It sucks, really. I mean, I know they probably put a "MotorolaOne" logo somewhere (which is different from Android One), but it's confusing when all the other variants of the same device are in fact Android One devices...

Aside from the XT2013-4 being a single sim variant (if i'm not mistaken), I don't see any reason why there would be a difference... I mean, on the contrary. Android One should be closer to stock than MotorolaOne, right? Or am I missing something? And if so...wouldn't it be actually easier to continue with the Android One trend that XT2013-1 and XT2013-2 started instead of creating something different only for this variant...? I mean, I don't know... It's weird. But maybe there is an explanation and we just don't know it.

Update on my posting #21 in this thread of a XT2013-2 DE stuck on Android 9/Dec Security update.I put a UK o2 network SIM in and MAGIC - at the end of start up it offered Android 10 and went on to do that and Jan Security update. So there is a clear UK moral that (a) no SIM (b) a UK Three/3 network SIM aren't good for Android 10, but an o2 SIM is! [Now I'm wondering if it should update beyond Jan security update as it's already most of March gone by.]
