Google assistant button in headset

2019-10-21, 8:17 AM

Hey guys,

I have a problem with Google Assistant - i can't turn off "assistant" button in my headset. I'm using 3 button Samsung In Ear buds. On my previous Moto E4 the third button (not vol up/down, the lonely one) was a pause button. On Moto One Action the same button turns on assitant even if i have it disabled on Google settings! I'm not using it at all.

I have a feeling, maybe wrong, that my third button just worked fine before some updates - i bought this phone a week ago. I replaced Google app with factory default and still cant pause song/podcast in any app.

I have no ideas where to look for solutions.

Greetings

Hi.

I can't reproduce this -- at least, not the part where it launches Assistant even when Assistant is turned off. (It does show me a little toast that says "Your Google Assistant is ready to help you get things done  TURN ON." Not much we can do about that as it's default Android behavior.)

How are you turning GA off? The steps I use are: Open Assistant > More > Settings > Google Assistant > Assitant (tab at top) > Assistant devices (scroll down) > Phone > Toggle off.

- Matt

Re: Google assistant button in headset

Hey Matt, thanks for reply. I have Polish language, so probably some options will be named different in english version.

I turned off Assistant in Google app > more > settings > Google Assistant > Assistent > devices and its toggle off. My screenshot shows same notification as Yours - Your Google Assistant is ready to help you get things done TURN ON - but in Polish.

Funny thing - i broke my Samsung headset since i wrote my message, but i bought another pair. Its the same model, but other revision (different box) and third button pauses song! Google assistant turns on when i hold this button for few seconds. My previous headset worked 100% fine with Moto e4, so propably its someway incompatible with One Action. I don't know why new headset is working fine. It seems that... issue is fixed by itself. Anyway, thank you very much for trying to help me.
