Motorola One Action - A 2019 smartphone that sounds like a 1920's typewriter! HELP!!

2019-11-14, 11:17 AM

I've only had my phone for less than 48 hours.  Motorola decided to make a phone with Face ID, a fingerprint sensor, and then they used the sound of a 1920's typewriter be not only default but permanent with no other choice.  I've tried every aftermarket keyboard out there and it's not the Gboard or keyboard that is the issue, it's that Motorola forces the dumb keyboard sound on all the apps!

I am about to return the phone for this reason alone.  Yeah it doesn't have fast charge, Face ID doesn't work, and the screen color of white is terrible, but I can live with that.  But it's embarrassing when I text and iPhone users laugh at me.  I type terrible with no sound.  Any suggestions?  I now after 40 years realize why people might want to cut themselves..........

My Gboard makes no sound, i have disabled it under:

Gboard settings -> preferences -> Sound on keypress

For the system buttons sounds, there is an option under sound menu.

Video with guide to both https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILx6iEVQXhU

Hope it helps

I said that I can't type without sound.  And I shouldn't have to type without sound on a brand new phone.  My options are to turn the stupid typewriter sound on and off.  How do I CHANGE the sound rather than have no sound?  I should have a list of sounds to pick from.  I have multiple other devices that use Gboard and they don't sound retarded.  I am used to typing with sound, but not a crappy embarrassing sound.

Oh sorry, i misread that

I'm afraid it is hardcoded into the system and you would need root access enabled to change the sound file.

That is ridiculous.  The phone sounds like a little kid's toy!

Hi.

This is standard, but one of the key benefits of Android is the App Store. I would not be surprised if there were 3rd-party keyboards that allow you to customize the keypad sound to suit you.

Anyone know of any? I took a quick look and saw some promising apps, but didn't have a chance to test any yet.
