What 45W charger to use?

2019-12-27, 14:57 PM

Just bought the Moto One Hyper and it came with an 18w charger.  Wondering what 45w charger works best with the phone to utilize it's "hyper charging" capabiltiy?  I don't see any 45w charger to buy on the Motorola website and searching online has not come up with any chargers that specifically mention Hyper compatibility.

Hi.

We're hoping to have a 45W charger available on our site in January. Let me see how we're doing on that.

Otherwise, I would simply suggest sticking with a well-known brand with good ratings.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Just wondering about the longevity of the phone's battery when using a 45W charger. Does the faster charger impact the lifetime of the battery?

Charging with the standard provided 27W is already quite fast IMHO. Faster charging most often induce more heat and and wear on a battery. Is the additional few minutes you shave of a full charge worth inducing additional wear you might induce on the battery?

 Hi.

It's certainly your call to switch to the 45W charger or not; I agree that the 27W is plenty fast. But the ability to charge at 45W includes those factors and will not reduce the life of the battery. If other factors happened to increase the charging temperature (for example, you are charging while your phone is sitting in the bright hot sun) the system is designed to then throttle back the charging rate to keep the temperature in the right range.

Hi!

Good news - the Motorola 45W charger is now available in the US on Amazon here.

It's coming to other countries and I'll try to alert you when it does. Roll out will continue in phases and should be nearly complete by mid-March.

Thanks,

The 45W charger isn't listed on the 'motorola power and charger' page.

https://www.motorola.com/us/motorola-power-and-charger

But it can be purchased through Amazon at the following URL.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083WNW4QJ

Current price is $39.99.

By the way, I think that that Amazon link used to be posted somewhere on these forums, probably in this very thread, but I searched the forums for it the other day and couldn't find it, so I'm thinking that perhaps it got lost during the recent forum migration.

Is there any update on when the charger will be released in the UK?
