MTOROLA ONE MACRO - Network issues

2021-06-04, 4:10 AM

Ok, this is strange.  I recently updated my Macro to Android 10 and my phone started acting like crap. I suddenly can not connect to a 4G network, even though I had before, my SIM card is 4G capable AND I've tested by swapping my SIM card into my wife's Huewei phone and got 4G right away.  Also, as soon as I leave the house I can not connect to ANYTHING. WiFi or Mobile data, no internet.

I've tried a complete network reset, power shutoff, removing and replacing the SIM card... I've even talked to my carrier.  It's not their fault; my wife, who is on the same network, has full 4G and no connectivity issues even when she's sitting in the car beside me.

This is... ridiculous.   If this happens every time I update, I'm not gong to do it until I know all bugs are out.  Speaking of bugs, I DO have a bug report, if that helps. Makes ZERO sense to me, but I've attached it here.  (at least I THINK I have... used the 'attach file' icon below but I don't see the attachment)

HALP??

EDIT: Do you think this is something that might get fixed in a patch?

This exact thing has happened to me since the Android 10 update. My phone has no cellular data.

Hello and sorry to see you're having issues. Out of curiosity are you sing Telstra? If so, take a look at the other topic we have going for that: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/motorola-one-macro/No-data-connection-after-upgrading-to-v10/m-p/5080805

The first user had to make a slight change to their APN to get it working correctly. I believe it was changing it from IPv6 to IPv4. Give it a try and let me know.

thanks,

Tom

I use Aldi which seems to use Telstra. I tried switching APN's to IPv4 on all of the available options with no luck. Reset phone etc etc

It's also only showing 3G. I have tried it in multiple locations but 4G has not appeared at all.

I am using Aussie Broadband which, as I have been told, currently uses Telstra lines, yes.  They are swapping to Optus soon... but I'll give this a try and let the thread know if it works.

Ta!

Thank you very much that seemed to work. Some steps on how to do this would have been helpful.

Might be a good suggestion for people who may not be familiar with changing phone settings to have some steps to follow.

Yeah... that didn't work for me.  I've changed the settings as per the instructions, even trying to cover all bases by selecting IpPv 4/6 for APN Protocol and still... this is what I get whenever I leave the house:

Keep in mind, when I place MY SIM into my wife's phone (Hauwei) I get full 4G and no issues... so it's either the hardware or (more likely) the software.

It didn't work for me until I pressed 'Save' via the 3 dots in the menu top right on the APN section. Otherwise it kept reverting back to previous settings.

Wasted about 4 hours trying to figure this out and was given incomplete info from the admin in this forum and support on steps to take in order to change these settings. It finally works properly now I have pressed save.

You may have a different problem to me but just thought I'd share my issues.

Thanks Kano.... and we're talking APN Protocol, right?   Just to be 100% certain.

EDIT: Did this, twice... once ti change it to IPv4 and back to IPv4/6 and still.... NOTHING. Restarted each time just to be sure....  I do NOT want a factory reset for this sh!t.

Images below of all options and current settings.

Correct.

I switched mine to IPv4 but had to hit "save" in the top right hand 3 dot menu or it would not change it.
