SIM not working at all after Android 10 Update

2021-03-03, 21:40 PM

I have recieved an official update to Android 10, probably a week or so ago, and since then, i had to use the SIM in an older phone. The SIM works fine, but I will try and get a new one, maybe it will help. But it dosen't work with my phone (motorola one macro). I have "emergency calls only".

Also, whenever the SIM is in the phone, i get weird bugs. I can't access the settings for Mobile Network. Whenever i try to get there, it either crashes the settings app, or it enters, but it freezes shortly after. So I can't change any settings in the Mobile Newtork area. Sometimes I can't even unlock the phone because it keeps asking me to unlock the SIM (which i do and it only works when it wants to). It also makes the phone be slower and act REALLY wierd overall (for example, the screen randomly turns on and off by itself). And to add something even weirder, sometimes when i re-plug the SIM into the phone, it works for a few seconds, then it disappears again. All the problems I have mentioned so far only appear when the SIM is in the phone. None of them occured before the update to Android 10. I am really annoyed by the fact that someone considered this update ready-to-go, and gave it the green light, seeing how unstable it seems to be.

Solutions I tried:

- Factory Reset, twice (one time i did a Hard Reset, because I thought that maybe it erases more stuff).

- Tried messing with the Network settings but as I said, I can only acess the Network & Internet screen. When i click on Mobile Network, it etiher freezes or crashes, or both. I know other people have a similar problem, but I haven't seen anybody that isn't able to access the settings.

- I have deleted cache from all the apps, restarted the phone multiple times, even in safe mode.

- The phone is dual-sim so I also tried using the SIM 2 slot. The phone is a tiny bit less buggy for some reason, but I still can't access the mobile network settings.

I am sorry if somebody already talked on this issue, but I can't seem to find anybody with the exact same problem as me. I am also sorry if I wasn't very clear, as english is not my first language and I am not very good with mobile phones tech. If i can't find the solution, I guess I'll just have to send the phone into warranty to the shop i bought it from (Altex, Romania). But I wanted to see if I can fix it myself.

Hello, and thanks for posting. I'm sorry you're experiencing this. We are aware that some users experienced this issue in Romania and we fully stopped the update until it could be fully investigated and root caused. Let me reach out to some people on my end to find out the current status. I truly apologize for the issues you're having with your phone after the update.

Thank you for replaying so fast and being so nice. Even if there isn't a solution at the moment, I appreciate it. It would be nice if Motorola made a fix in the next weeks or so, but I guess the exact time when an update that will fix the problem will come is hard to know.

I assure you we are working on this with the highest priority. I know they stopped the update so others wouldn't be affected, but that does nothing for you in the short-term. I also know they are working on a fix. As for the timing, sadly, I don't have that. So, I'm working on this from two different angles. One, I'm pushing to get info on the status of potential fixes. Two, I'm looking into what I can do for you immediately. Again, I truly apologize for this. I'm going to stay on it until we get some sort of resolution for you.
