Camera looking blurry while video recording post the Android Pie update.

I've noticed this issue since the last Android Pie update. While we record videos on WhatsApp, the camera seems to be blurry and none of the objects/subjects can be seen throughout the recording/video.

May I know are these issues faced by everyone having this phone or it is just me?

Hi KBhat18,

Greetings from Motorola,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. We request you to try these below checkpoints & let us know.

1. Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Take a dry cloth and gently clean the camera lens.

2. Check, is there any update available for the WhatsApp app?

3. Check, the required permissions are enabled for the WhatsApp app? tap on Settings>>Apps & notifications>>Sell all - apps>>WhatsApps>>Permissions>>Camera/Phone/Storage>>Toggle On. (Reboot the device)

Thanks & Regards

Hi KBhat18,

Thank you for trying provided checkpoints. We request you to perform the Factory Data Reset if it doesn't help then Repair would be the next logical action.

Before you visit the Service Centre we request you to;

  1. Carry the invoice copy of the device.
  2. Take a complete data backup.
  3. Call the Service Centre and confirm their availability before visiting.

Thanks & Regards

Re: Camera looking blurry while video recording post the Android Pie update.

Hi, I did everything from factory reset to contacting other moto x4 owners.
Everyone is facing the same issue.
You may even check this with other moto x4 owners.
Please provide a solution.
Taking my phone to service centre wouldn't help because as I said this is being faced by everyone having this model.
So, kindly verify this problem from other moto X4 users or operate my phone remotely to understand the issue.
Your service centre is absolutely great in terms of service and availability of parts but just to take our phones to the service centre we have to take a day off and travel all the way to the service centres. So it is better if you check this with other owners of the same model and then suggest me to visit the service centre.
Thank you.

Hello there,

I have a moto z3 and I'm having this same problem.

It is really annoying, and I've been looking for a solution with no success :'(

Re: Camera looking blurry while video recording post the Android Pie update.

Brother, firstly to say its a global issue.I would have appreciated if a single moderator would have convinced that we are working on an update for any camera improvement.Dont underestimate the hardware of this device camera  as it is really good.Problem is in software.Last camera specific update helped with night pics and reduced the noise of low light night pics to maximum. But somewhere ,my observation is pics are going way soft and no sharpness.

Forget moto camera app, disable it and install gcam with night sight mode.

If you have a special attachment with moto camera then try go to apps-camera-storage ,delete cache but at last defect will not go...

Just thought of revisiting camera app of moto.I have one straight plain question. Is there some conspiracy going in moto corporate. Is management planning to shut the shop  ?

Re: Camera looking blurry while video recording post the Android Pie update.

This quality of photos certainly a blind can judge are not in harmony with senses. My take would be if you launch a product in market ,you should be knowing its perfect. This phone came during tine of note 5 pro and even today has more positives than it.If camera app was fine that time and even matching with asus zenfone max pro m2,users would have given this an upper edge in purchase and by now sale stats would have been an entirely different story. It would have been most selling mobile of year owing to only budget mobile in this segment with a projected turbo charging support.
