Google Messages RCS

2019-06-30, 9:13 AM

Google have themselves launched RCS (chat) independently from the Carrier's here in UK last week for their Messages app.

Reports coming through for various devices on Virgin network (+ other networks) having RCS working now, but my Motorola One does not allow me to turn it on - saying device not supported, somethng Motorola or Google need to enable??.

Totally not related response , but did you notice that the Moto folks aren't responding to the threads under Moto one and one power anymore? . Looks like they are busy with new devices Or they all got fired for the absolute platinum service they we're providing here.

Dint mean to hijak ur post?sorry.

Ps : I do not work for Motorola, I'm just a consumer who owns a Motorola one power

Hi,

If you're using the default messages app (Google's Messages) then your set for RCS.

However, you are correct that the carriers themselves need to approve and activate, which is more of a conversation between them and Google.

Hopefully when they turn it on, it will work without any additonal effort. However if it doesn't, let us know on here :)

Have seen posts of this working on my network (Virgin mobile UK), but my phone and other people get a message saying "your device is not compatible with RCS".

But I persisted by clearing data on the carrier services app and Google messages app & force closed them both, then went back in (doing both a few times) - RCS is now activated ?

Sort of scrub that, eventhough it did turn on, a couple of hours later it was back saying "device not compatible" ?

Hmmm,

What handset are you using? I'll have a little look at some point.

Hi,

It looks like Google aren't supporting Dual SIM handsets, even if you're only using one SIM.

The US launched with single SIM, and brought dual SIM on later, so that might be the plan here.

Sorry it's not better news.

This helped me too

Thanks for the info :-)

Is all a bit weird, while sending a text today, a box flashed up asking do I want to turn RCS on - accepted and it turned back on, only to turn off again shortly after. lol

At the moment though, there does not seem to be enough people with it yet to make it worth the trouble messing around with it ?

After all that, it was the Virgin network which was causing the problems - RCS does not run properly on their network - at least not in my Motorola One.

Put a Voxi (Vodafone) SIM in slot 1 with the Virgin SIM in slot 2, RCS is running perfect with the Voxi SIM ?
