Weird photo sorting issue

2018-10-26, 13:10 PM

Photos sorting issue. When I capture photos using camera it must be sorted according to the date taken. But for me most of the photos are sorted as that was taken on 18th jan 1970. I dont know why please help.

This is actually a common bug, where a document (usually a photo) loses it's date information and defaults to early 1970 (sometimes referred to as "the beginning of Internet time").

Did you take these photos with the phone, or are these from a previous phone?

I would not be too concerned about it if it is just this incidence.

Are the photos with the 1970 date taken with the phone or are they photos that were taken with another device? It taken with the phone, what is different between the 1970 photos and the ones with proper date? Are the 1970 photos copied after taken? Stored in a different location?

I have to assume there is something different about the 1970 photos. Maybe view them from a pc to compare properties.

Photos sorted as taken in 1970 are taken on my Moto one power. Other photos are on my google photos cloud. Some photos are sorted properly,as I am a service engineer I need to share reports and site photos with my supervisor. I got the phone on 22nd this month, from day 1 same issue but all photos taken on yesterday are sorted properly.

Just figured out the exact problem. HDR & Flash. When I choose Flash (auto/on) all photos taken are sorted as they were taken on 1970 and When I choose HDR(auto/on) every photos taken are sorted properly.

That is really interesting information. We will try to reproduce.

Thanks.

Hi lk10,

This is to update you that we have tried doing the same as you mentioned but we don't see any changes. However, we request you to check with below checkpoints & let us know.

1. Try changing the device time. (Use network-provided time)

2. Check, is your Google photos app is updated.

3. Uninstall the third-party Gallery apps which you are using.

4. Remove the multiple Gmail id's if it is sync with Google photos.

Thanks & Regards
Nikh

1. Automatic date and time (network provided time) is on.

2. Photo app is updated, I uninstalled updated app and installed it again. Still same issue.

3. I installed 3rd party gallery app to check whether the issue is with google photos app but same issue is in 3rd party gallery app too. 3rd party gallery app is removed.

4. Only single Gmail id.

Installed another camera app and no issues till now, using it for 2days.

Hi.

Really appreciate all this detail, thanks.

Can you test in Safe Mode to see if this is an app issue? To go into Safe Mode, press the physical power key, then press and hold the pop-up "Power off" key until the Safe Mode instructions pop up.

Thanks,
