"Time and weather widget" and notification panel.

2019-12-13, 17:36 PM

Hello everyone,

after the last system update, which brought the December security pach (build PPKS29.68-16-36-13), I noticed a very annoying notification on the panel and status bar, generated by the Time and Weather widget (see the attached screenshots). This notification is displayed (and soon disappears) every time I open an app or simply unlock the phone.
Switching to another launcher solves this problem. Here are the echo logcat lines that should refer to the mentioned issue.

Thank you

I'have just updated my profile by adding the IMEI of the first SIM.

Of course, you can look into my apps. The Motorola Privacy should be already enabled.

Thank you!

Re: "Time and weather widget" and notification panel.

My G7 did a security update last night and today my weather widget that I use on my home page is GONE. It's not in Wigdets anymore, it's completely gone. It kept showing a dot saying weather and time were working and my battery was being sucked down fast so I restarted and BAM it's gone. It's not hiding anywhere it's gone. I have no idea how to do the things mentioned in other forum posts and I can't afford to lose everything I have in a factory reset as I use my phone for work and home. PLEASE HELP!

The January security patch fixed the issue.

Thank you!

I restarted my phone 4 times today and my weather widget came back but so did that little white dot notifying me every few minutes that Weather and Clock are running....Can we please get one update that doesn't mess up our phones? Every time there is a forced update my phone either slows to a crawl or something goes crazy. I LOVE Motorola phones especially the Moto G line but this is getting as annoying as the Samsung phone I had in the past, I wouldn't touch another Samsung with a ten foot pole, I don't want to feel like that with my Moto G7.

Hi Marlab,

I would suggest you disable Time & Weather and enable back. See if that helps-- go to Settings > Apps & notifications > See all apps > tap on top right three dots >  show system > Time & Weather > Disable > then enable back. Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Suman

I did as you suggested and it's still doing the same thing, the little white dot appears every few seconds and says that time and weather is running and the battery starts getting used up. I'm hoping for another upgrade soon, this stinks not being able to use that app. I really wish the developers would check out updates on all devices before forcing it on all phones.

Hi Marlab,

It is possible to disable the "running" notification and keep alarm notifications enabled. Go to Settings -> Apps -> Se all apps -> 3 dots menu -> Show system. Open "Time and Weather" app info -> Notifications: disable "Time and Weather" checkbox (3rd option). Let me know how it goes.
