Re:Android 10 2.4ghz speed unbearable

Same thing to me on my Motorola One Action. On 2,4 GHz it is unstable, loses connection, and often is very slow. It is quite fast on 5 GHz.

I had just bought the phone when I already could upgrade to Android 10. I had not really tested it on Android 9. Then I noticed the problems, but it seemed asif the WiFi station was to blame. I had an older spare one, and that seemed to work better. I even contacted my DSL company and they have already sent me a newer model. But that did not work well either!

Then I had 3 WiFi stations to compare, and the oldest one still seems to work best, but also not very well. Now I have tested all 3 of them with various setting, with various orientations of my phone, and even 2 different positions in the my apartment. I also noticed the Bluetooth intereference while I was playing music from my PC. I switched that off.

So I got thinking, it is just the phone after all. And that I would  have to get it repaired, or rather swap it straight away for a good one. I even feel sorry I had the a newer WiFi station sent.

Currently I can use 5 GHz at home, but I certainly want to be able to use 2,4 GHz elsewhere.

Then I found this post...

So either Motorola fixes this problem quickly, or I will have to resort to the options above. If it is a SOFTWARE problem they should be able to fix it!

So MOTOROLA/LENOVO, please respond quickly!!

Re:Android 10 2.4ghz speed unbearable

Yes this has  completely broken my experience with this phone. It's almost unusable. I am in Wifi zones 90% of the time and most of them are 2.4ghz band. It's too slow to stream music without pauses and it's completely unusable for videos. If this isn't fixed soon, I am going to have to get a different phone and while this is my first Motorola brand phone, based on the touch screen issues and now this new one and a lack of acknowledgement that this is indeed a problem to be fixed soon, I don't feel confident in this company's products.

I get that a software release isn't going to be perfect but major problems needs to be fixed and fixed fast. This new problem is the deal breaker for me. I keep coming back to the forum hoping someone from Motorola/Lenovo acknowledges that this is a problem being worked on - I am willing to wait a bit. But seems like they are asking people to uninstall apps and send in log files with no response as to next steps. This is not caused by an app - it persists on a reset too.

Please let us know if this is being worked on or not. Then I can either wait for a fix or shop for a new phone from another company. It's a shame because I like everything else about the phone but needing to wait 5 mins to update a 20MB is unacceptable.

Any updates on this issue? Has it been investigated? Sent my log file a while back and no one responded or even acknowledged it. I am tired of getting ~1mpbs downloads on 2.4ghz. I would appreciate a response from Motorola.

Hi Motorola Support - any updates on this? Is it even being looked into? Should I just get another phone? Please advise.

The silence speaks volumes. Guess I am off to buy a new device. The Vision is unusable on Wifi now. Too bad because I really liked this phone before the A10 update. Obviously not another Motorola phone. If this is the level of support to expect.

As is pretty OBVIOUS, and people are clearly ASKING for it:

Motorola/Lenovo, could you please COMMIT that you are WORKING on a solution and will SUPPLY that as an update ASAP?

Hi.

We were working on it, but I am now able to confirm that they have a patch that should address this problem. Sorry for the issue.

I don't know when the patch will be distributed but if I can learn anything about that I'll share it here.

Please do not PM me - if you have issues, search the forums for threads on your topic and post there, or start a new thread. Thanks!

Hi Matt,

That's good news.

I just retested the situation, hoping that there was any improvement with updates I had received in the mean time. But no improvement essentially.

I just noticed that there is a significant difference between my oldest FritzBox7170 with a speed of something like 7 Mbit/s, and my newest  FritzBox7590 on like 1 Mbit/s while often losing it's connection.

In fact, recently noticing the old performance made me wonder if anything had improved.

Well, I EAGERLY wait for the patch. I hope it will arrive shortly, and that it will really generally improve the connection, also outside my specific situation.

Please add a remark about it to the RELEASE NOTES of the update. Usually they are pretty nonsensical.

Thanks,

Robert
