Re:Android 10 2.4ghz speed unbearable

2020-06-16, 15:26 PM

Since the Android 10 update months ago direct connections to action cams are broken. I've tried all the usual suggestions (using device MAC, unmetered connection). It's disappointing that 2.4GHz connections are still broken after so many months. All connections work with the same settings on an iPad. These action cams don't have internet connectivity but act as WiFi hotspots to download images or live view. When will an update to the WiFi drivers finally come?

Also - unrelated: since the release the Moto One Action doesn't provide smooth 60fps playback of videos. Also here - no update or fix but dropped frames! Is there a way to safely downgrade?

Has anyone heard any updates about this? The problem has almost seemed to get worse for me this last week. I'm about to just buy another non-Motorola phone at this point.

I have the exact same problem (I'm from Brazil). Lenovo keep selling this problematic model. While using Android 9, the wifi was absolutely normal, android 10 fu*ked with the wifi.

Dear,

Same problem is affected one action also.

These devices use almost same internals.

Can you share a bug report for this?

Dear Matt,

Same issue on one action.

Bug report with poor wifi was posted.

I was in some discussion with Tom explaining the issues.

Please extend your support also since action and vision use same internal Chipset.

regards.

Confirming this on QSAS30-62-28-7 retla.

I tried to solve it for a week with no luck. Apart from the speed I get random disconnects (every time there's high network usage, I think, for example video calls, downloading from the play store, watching videos). This makes the device unusable for typical stuff.

I decided to do a factory reset, same issue (I'm still reinstalling stuff, sigh). The only option would be to go back to 9, but I'm sure that would put me in danger of a brick (plus the warranty void that I'll get with the bootloader unlock).

This is a breaking issue and I can't believe the report dates from March! Moto phones are getting worse and worse as time passes, sadly :c

I'll report back after testing on a 5GHz network (since I'm trapped home because of covid, I can't do this rn).

Hard to believe this is an Android One phone considering the level of support and updates is equal to that of a 4 year old phone. I absolutely agree that two years will pass before anything is sorted out. I put my phone away and got a Samsung waiting for Lenovo to update the Vision because mine is unusable since it was updated to Android 10. Wifi is 0.5-1mbps when bluetooth is on whereas before it was consistently over 50mbps. The update that most of us did not get, I was told by a support agent, apparently addressed this but I would not know because I never got the update on RETLA, only security updates.

Can anyone confirm that they received a fix for this issue previously? I've seen it mentioned a few times that there was a patch that didn't get pushed to the RETLA channel, which is the one I'm on. But, I'm not sure if this is just an unsubstantiated rumor or not.

So

  • It has been 16 months since this topic started.
  • Android 10 has not been fixed.
  • There is a vague promise it will be in Android 11, which I have not even seen confirmed!
  • Android 11 is still not here, except maybe in Brazil. (Why on earth there?)
  • I definitely need a fix in 2 weeks, if it wasn't like 'yesterday'.
  • Oh, and new problems on the horizon with Android 11. ('We will fix that.')
