Re:Android 10 Dark Screen using YouTube, VLC...

2020-03-13, 14:15 PM

Hi.

I've tested this several ways, and could not reproduce it. I am wondering (can't tell from the video) if you may be putting your hand over the sensor when you rotate the screen. The only thing that I notice making the screen go dark is the ambient light.

Please note that you can simply pull down the notification bar and raise the light level at any time.

Have you tried this with the Adaptive Brightness turned off?

Hi Matt, I have this issue with adaptive brightness off :( Its affecting most full screen aplications like Youtube or even PS4 Remote. Something is fishy because when I enable "disable HW ovelay" in dev settings, no black crush (well, white crush still). I hope that it helps! Best Regards, Jacek

No, MattForumsMngr, the problem is not the sensor. I can't really imagine that you never can reproduce any bug that we describe here in this forum. Where do you see in my video, that I'm touching the sensor? Ok then, I will reproduce the problem again, but this time with ambient sensor turned off.

Here you are,MattForumsMngr! https://youtu.be/W36d5OZETVs Sorry first for the quality, but I sent the video in Messenger and then uploaded it in YouTube. As you can see even with Adaptive Brightness turned off the screen behavior is the same. In horizontal mode the picture is always very dark. If I go to Developer Options and turn on "Disable HW overlays" the "dark effect" disappear!

After watching your you tube video i have reproduced the effect. Till now I haven't thought or noticed that my display has any problem but I have seen proof my self. And I have been able to reproduce the effect so I think Motorola's highly qualified engineers can do the same. Only if they try rather than just shutting us down every time we raise a problem which is affecting us.

Hi.

I missed your video. There I can see it.

Can you give me a link to some of the actual videos where you are experiencing this, on Youtube?

Also, if the light in the room is off, does it act the same?

I understand that you are all frustrated. But I am sincerely interested in finding and reporting issues. If I can't reproduce it, I'm going to look for alternative explanations. That's how you investigate issues, right? Let's work together.

Thanks,

Don't expect people to be nice to you since there is no support from Moto, no estimations with software upgrade, no news about upcoming software, etc. Since you are first line support you are and always will be the first one to blame. And that's the same unfair as MotoLOLa policy and lack of support.

Hi.

I absolutely expect all members to be civil to one another at all times. It is a key part of our site rules and necessary if we're going to have a site that is not simply trolls and admins. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully. And it's when we are frustrated that the rules are needed. Anyone can be civil when things are going well.

If you have something to add to help us get to the bottom of the reported issue, we are eager to hear it.

I hope this is clear.

Thanks,

MattForumsMngr, did you see my second video, where I turned off the Adaptive Brightness and also show you what to turn On to fix the "dark effect" completely???
