Re:Android 11 Bluetooth + Sync 3 (Car Infosystem) = Unreliable Connection

Updates can be turned off in Settings / Developer. Look there and check if they are turned on.

I would also like to roll back security updates, but someone here wrote that it is not possible :/

I got chance to try the new Moto One Vision that the support team sent to me, which is running additional debug software and IT WORKED! :-(

Ah - I just realised that the phone they sent with debug software is running the JULY security update!!! Grrrr!!

No wonder they couldn't replicate the problem.

WE all know this has all started with the September security update so wouldn't it of been a good idea for developers to use a debug phone that had THE SAME UPDATES?!?!

It just seems so logical to me

While I can live without Bluetooth connection to car (for now) & the phone still works fine in every other way & I've been happy with it, even I'M considering buying another phone

My problem is that I'm due to replace my One Vision and I really like Motorola phones. I've been looking at the G51 and G31 but am really worried that they wont work in my car either????

OK, another update... I got a call from a Motorola developer on Friday evening. The July update was intentional - that's the FIRST update that they saw reports of this issue. Whilst most in this forum seem to link it with the August update, it has appeared back at the first Android 11 release on the One Vision (and One Action phones). The updates since July, including the November release that I don't yet have, don't touch the Bluetooth stack so are unlikely to improve it. They're struggling to debug as they can't replicate the issue with the vehicles available to them (and now, annoyingly, the debug phone is also working OK on my car!!)

I'm trying further diagnostics with the test phone they provided. The fact that it's single SIM vs my Dual SIM version isn't expected to contribute - they've had the issue reported on both single and dual sim variants.

I'll try to grab some more logs and try to replicate it with the debug phone today.

Update: Motorola have REPRODUCED THE ISSUE with their phone! Their reports had suggested that it was ALL Android 11 (including the July security update), so they were working from what they believed to be the first problematic build... but after I mentioned that I was pretty sure it came with the August build, they've re-checked (using October Security build) and have been able to reliably replicate the issue.

So, not yet fixed - but they've now got all of the required detailed debug info (far more than we're able to generate using the native 'bug report' that can be sent). Obviously, that doesn't mean a fix is imminent, but it's great news and gives me hope that a solution will be found!

Good to see progress, but I'm pretty sure there's a few of us that mentioned it was the August security update rather than Android 11 that caused the issue.

Thanks for keeping us informed.

I have a work round that works for me (most of the time).

1...Start by restarting the phone but leave it locked

2...Switch on and start the car. I get a stable connection.

Phone now works as it should.

If I leave the car and return sometime later, I switch on the car and start it up - it then fails to maintain a stable connection.

Repeat the process from point 1 above and bingo.

Once it's working I can also then connect my USB cable and use Android Auto.

I'd be interested if this works for you???

Hi @ John.F,

Thanks for sharing your experience and your workaround. Hope this works with others.
