Re:No Security Update Since 1 December 2019

We (my wife and I) have the same issues. Both have have the same phone, purchased via Amazon, and out security update is 1 December 2020. Still on Android 9 with a channel of vfeu. We bought the phones for timely security updates, but after December, we have had nothing. Contacted Lenovo (April 2020) and they stated that the update we had was the most up to-date. When I questioned about the Android One programme with timing updates, I have had no reply. Poor show all round.

I checked and from what I have found, vfeu is Vodafone's carrier variant, though since you got it on Amazon it is a bit odd. (Mine was bought on Amazon in the UK but I got the retgb model)

Matt, or HSUnkown If my phone is a Vodafone channel variant, is there any chance that if I put in a Vodafone SIM I'll get an update? I'm guessing not - as I understand it, I should be able to get updates on WiFi, even if no SIM is inserted? But thought it might be worth asking.

Also, HSUnknown and Don Macin, can I ask whether you have the Bronze or Sapphire models? I wonder if Motorola have made a mistake with the software channel on a particular model?

1. Putting Vodafone SIM in your phone will most likely not help, I would recommend contacting Vodafone since they are responsible for pushing the update. 2. I have the sapphire model and it was bought in September 2019.

Hi.

Worth asking, but in this case I'm going to say no. This build has run into one problem after another. It looks like we are still a couple weeks away.

I'm so sorry for the frustrations.

I have no choice but to let you look at my information on my phone, but honestly this is no excuse to not provide a downloadable update file that matches the region/provider group, on the site like EVERY other phone does (even for recovery reasons). Unless a user moves an app with root into system it is not possible for it to block a master root function, which if it can, then you have serious other issues with your programmers and security issues with the entire device as a whole. This phone is stock and no alterations, so sure check and then give another excuse after invading my privacy.

Hi.

Not going to look. We are not interested in invading your privacy.

But we do expect the update for Koodoo subscribers to start rolling out tomorrow. Apologies for the delay.

The reason we can't provide a downloadable file, by the way, is the same reason there is no OTA update. The software hasn't been approved.

Ok so you answered my question, you didn't push it out to providers and it wasn't approved, which is kinda odd unless you were trying to cook software what wasn't authentic Android One. But an answer was what was important, thank you
