RIL Restart Motorola One Vision

2019-06-26, 23:09 PM

Hello,

I have purchased the Motorola One Vision. Everything works fine except for the sim cards. This has been truly frustrating as at first, it used to lock my screen every two minutes. I factory restarted my phone and it worked again for a day. Only for it to suddenly stop working a few hours later. Now I have an issue wherein it says on the bottom 'RIL restart', my sim cards constantly reset, I cannot use data, call, recieve calls or text.

I returned my phone back to amazon and recieved a new one, only to get the EXACT same error. The sim cards are fine, as I am using the same SIMS on my Moto G7, which work perfectly well. This is incredibly frustrating and would like to find a solution for this.

Thanks.

It is not unusual for new handsets to require some kind of updated sim card, especially if the one you are using is a few years old.

If it has happened with 2 phones, I would try a new SIM as a next step. In the USA we get them free from the carrier - and having to update a sim card is not an unusual thing.

If one SIM card is new as you say, then I am not sure buying one will help.

I have asked others to look at this thread to see if they have any other suggestions. Who is your carrier?

Did a new sim do the trick or did it just start working?

Hi.

This seems to be a problem with how GiffGaff is registering the product. I found this discussion on the GiffGaff community (read the whole thing) and changing SIMs seems to be the solution. We will see if we can contact GiffGaff about this as well.

Still no remedy for this. I have now got to the bottom of it and fully understood what is going on so here is the situation.

Two phones, two cards
Motorola One Vision (OV), new phone
Motorola G4 plus (G4), 2yr old phone
3 sim (3)
New Giffgaff Sim (GG)

Tried all the combinations, here are the results.

G4 + 3 good

G4 + GG good

OV + 3 good
OV + GG ...FAIL

So we will concentrate on this last one.
I set up the new phone with the 3 card in it but everything set up over wifi. All works fine.

I change to the GG card. Seems ok at first but then cycle the power and it all starts to go wrong. When I view the sim card slots and can see them switching on and off every 5 seconds.

If I replace the GG card with the 3 card then it all works fine again. The fault appears to lie with GG cards and the Moto One Vision phone. There are other instances of this happening. I thought the phone might be faulty so sent it back. This is now the replacement phone and it does exactly the same thing.

Is there anything you can do to help me with this or is it just that this Moto One Vision phone is not compatible with GifGaff cards?

Thank you
Adam
