Support for gestures on 3rd party launchers

2020-03-19, 14:36 PM
So, we've all been there before: switching launcher. But with Android 10 the native Google Gestures aren't supported so we can't use them. Google already let Pixel owners use it and the code is been around since December security patch. Now Samsung announced that they will let users have gestures enabled with 3rd party launcher. When will Motorola do that? Since the code is here, it's a Moto problem and not Google's. Cmon we should be able to use our phones the way we wan.

Hi.

I see that Samsung has said that it could be added sometime this year (with some speculation in the reporting that the Covid19 crisis could slow development). Our own testing shows that some gestures work on Pixel, and some do not.

So, we will request this, but I wouldn't expect it to show up soon even if it's prioritized.

Thanks for bringing it up.

Hi.

What launcher are you trying to use?

Thanks.

Any launcher e.g. lawnchair 2, action launcher, nova launcher. The only one that supports the Google navigation gestures is the Moto Launcher that came with the phone.

I see. Well, thanks for taking the time to check the problem and giving an answer. I'll hope to get it since some features I want aren't available at the default launcher. Thank you for your time, Matt!
