VoLTE and VoWiFi on Orange Spain

2020-01-20, 21:23 PM

Hi

I am in Spain and my mobile network operator is Orange Spain. My line has activated VoLTE and WiFi calls, but I cannot enjoy these services because the Motorola One Vision, despite being compatible with these services, does not include the IMS parameters of Orange Spain or any other mobile network operator in Spain. Then the "4G Calls" and "Wifi Calls" options do not appear in the network settings.

As I read in posts from this same forum, it seems that Motorola One Vision does include the parameters (IMS) that allow VoLTE and VoWiFi to work in other countries because 4G Calling and WiFi Calling are working in countries such as Romania, Moldova, Denmark , Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, India, etc., but it seems Motorola forgot Spain.

The version of the One Vision that Motorola directly sells in Spain through Amazon Spain is the XT1970-3 RETEU model, which is the one I have.

Please, include in the next ROM update the necessary parameters so that users of the mobile network operator ORANGE Spain can have VoLTE and VoWiFi, just as other users from other countries enjoy these services with this same terminal.

Thanks.

I am with Orange Spain too and I cannot make 4G or Wi-Fi calls.

I tried with a Samsung (free, not from the mobile network operator) and it works both.

I hope Motorola fix it.

Re: VoLTE and VoWiFi on Orange Spain

Good night. I'm got a VolTe problem, too. I have a Motorola one vision XT1970-3 reteu and even though the mobile is ready to activate IMS, 4G calls, VolTe and Wifi calls. He doesn't allow to do it. I contact my Orange Spain phone provider and even though they have the service They do not activate it claiming that that is a Motorola issue that has to fix it with a software update. They even tell me that they don't expect it to activate even with the update to Android 10 foot.

Therefore, please remedy this situation by instructing us how to activate the service or if you will fix it. Since I find it a bit of a styde on your part that we have that problem on a computer like Motorola and more being a customer for many years.

A greeting and I look forward to prompt reply from you. BEST regards.

Dot.: VoLTE and VoWiFi on Orange Spain

2020-01-22, 7:21 AM

As far as I know each carrier bed to certify a phone for VoLTE to work, here in Poland only top shelf models are on the Orange's list, maybe they try to limit VoLTE to their branded phones or as a premium feature for those with better more expensive phones to offload their network, or are just plain lazy and don't want to certify some niche cheap phones

It's not exactly like that. It's just the opposite. At the beginning, smartphone manufacturers were only interested in operators only certifying their high-end devices. But that was only at the beginning of the implementation of VoLTE and VoWiFi technology.

In Spain, Orange has certified for VoLTE devices as cheap as the Alcatel 1X or the Wiko Tommy2, which cost less than € 100. And from Samsung there are many certified devices, of all prices.

If the hardware is compatible, it is only the manufacturer responsibility to add the IMS values to the ROM and then request for certification from Orange so that the device connects without problems. In fact, as I mentioned previosly, this smartphone operates VoLTE and VoWifi in many countries, so this procedure is already known by Motorola.

The mobile operators does not put any impediment to VoLTE and VoWiFi, because this type of smartphones are convenient for them, because they allow to decongest 3G / 2G networks.

As you can see in that same list, there are many certified Samsung phones, not only the top of the range.

And it has nothing to do if they sell them or not. From the list of countries in my initial post where I indicate that VoLTE is working with Motorola One Vision (Romania, Moldova, Denmark, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Germany, etc.), our smartphone, as far as I know, is only sold by operator DIGI Romania, in the rest it works as a free phone retail version (sold by Amazon for example).

Having VoLTE and VoWIFI depends solely on the manufacturer of the phone, Orange will not deny the certification of the device if it works correctly and does not cause conflict in its networks. It is simply laziness of manufacturers not to include IMS parameters and request certification.

In fact, certification is the right way, but it is not strictly necessary for a device to work with VoLTE in an operator's network. It is the device that decides whether or not to comply with the authorization of the operator's network. For example, on Xiaomi smartphones not certified by the operator, by dialing a simple sequence, you can make the phone not check the approval of the operator's network to work with VoLTE. As you can see in this video even an uncertified device can work with VoLTE.

Hi.

We're trying to determine if the phone supports these features. Sorry I don't have an immediate answer.

Please do not PM me - if you have issues, search the forums for threads on your topic and post there, or start a new thread. Thanks!
