What's going on? The Android One, Motorola One Vision can play movies by Netflix on SD Quality only.

2020-02-14, 8:16 AM

The Android One, Motorola One Vision.
If checked by DRM info App, It has security level "L1"
And it's a Android One device with FHD+ Amoled display.

But It can play movies by Netflix on SD Quality only.

Is it a joke? What's going on with Android One Device?

I don't think it's because of your phone, if i'm not mistaking it's a limitation in the Netflix app.

^ I second this :)

For some strange reason the Morotola One Vision is not supprted for HD playback (yet)...

For more info please refer to:

Maybe it would help to contact Netflix support about the issue?

Hi, so... I contacted netflix support center (the conversation is in Spanish because it's my native laguage) but according to what they say... they give the app to the phone's developers so that they can tested/modify/improve so that it could work smoothly on every device and that, the fact that we cannot see HD/HDR and 21:9 videos is completly Motorola's (ejem... LENOVO) fault... >:(

I posted the conversation on Twitter and the responses (always with that generic response touch in it) that Motorola gave me... spoiler: they say it's Netflix's fault hahaha

I TRULY HOPE that an admin comes to see this and give us the response of the company, not their own response, what I mean, is that the admins take this topic to their superiors and they REALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT... it's almost a year since the phone make it to the market and this issue never had a fix.

The conversation in twitter is here: https://twitter.com/RGrrz/status/1228353721572216838

I had nearly the same conversation with Motorola and Netflix support.

Motorolas support told me that it's the fault of the Netflix app development team and Netflix support says (after a really long conversation) that the Motorola One Vision doesn't get an official HD support from them due to "hardware limitations". Unfortunately they don't want or can't explain this more detailed.

So for me it feels like a chicken-and-egg problem...:smileyfrustrated:

It could absolutely be hardware limitations on the one vision, but both Samsung A10 and A20 have lower specs and still supports HD play. It's definitely something else stopping one vision from getting HD support.

Yup, this looks like "moment 22" and I don't think it will be resolved.

I still think the offered resolution looks good on this screen though and I rarely watch Netflix on the device screen anyway.

Same here, i'm often used my Xbox one or stream to Chromecast. But it's still stupid of both Netflix and Moto not to fix this, my other streaming services offer HD in the app on Moto one vision.

Yes, It's not a major problem.

And I think it maybe not technically problem but it's a foolish defect.

Because I didn't see any good reason to show the really limitation of hardware.

Yes. It's a bit funny though as they say in official site:

"Enjoy immersive movies and gaming on a 6.3" CinemaVision (21:9) Full HD+ display that stretches from edge to edge."

But they never mentioned that it won't be the case if you're streaming, as it's neither full HD nor 21:9 full screen in that case :P
