AT&T: Device Not Compatible 2022

2020-07-21, 22:10 PM

I recently bought the Motorola Zoom One and received an email from AT&T notifying me that in 2022, my phone will no longer work on their network. I just checked and it looks like the Motorola Zoom One does NOT have HD Voice (VoLTE). Is this something that can be fixed in a software or firmware update or will the phone no longer work? The Motorola One Action is the only phone listed as compatible in their list in the One family.

What to know about 3G going away

To bring you faster speeds and new features, we have to evolve America’s best and also fastest network. One change we’re making is phasing out our 3G network by February 2022. Once we do, 3G devices and 4G wireless devices that don’t support HD Voice will no longer work on our network.

We’ll keep you updated with any important info as we phase out the 3G network. We’re here to help you anytime.

What it means to you

Talk and data services won’t work for wireless phones and devices that don’t support at least 4G LTE and HD Voice. Find out if your phone will still work on our network

If you get a text message from us, check it to see which of your lines have phones that won’t work after we phase out the 3G network.

I just got the same thing from AT&T.  While I went to the site and it appears to be showing my wife's iPhone SE, I looked on their compatible list for my Moto One Hyper and did  NOT see that model listed as working on their network.  I saw nothing about "HD Voice" in the specifications.  I bought this phone just under 3 months ago and needless to say, I'm not happy in the least.  I bought specifically in the hopes of using it for a long time.

I used cricket wireless which is on the AT&T network, and I haven't received any notice about my phone's future incompatibility with the service.

Hi.

There's a lot of information (and misinformation) floating around about this. We're working to get a full understanding and once we do, we'll circle back.

Thanks,

-Matt
