Bluetooth issues with Google Play app

2019-12-13, 20:05 PM

So I had this issue before with my G5 plus I think, and now I have gone back to Motorola with a One Zoom it seems to have reappeared. Mid song it very often just cuts out bluetooth streaming.

My Nokias in between didn't seem to have the same issue with the same apps installed and I've also changed my bluetooth speaker to an Echo Plus. So what is it?

So you are running multiple apps simultaneously.  Those would be your audio player and Google Play (possibly more, like YouTube, if you forgot to mention them).

Are you using WiFi or your 4G carrier's network?

Have you tested the 'bug' by putting your phone into Safe Mode?  That will disable all 3rd party apps and get you back to the bare bones (known good) Android-tested apps.

I'm connected to wi-fi but I'm streaming mp3s from my SD card using Google play music only. I'm not using multiple apps though I'm now trying an alternative. My Nokias didn't have the same issue despite having the same 3rd party apps installed. Early days it seems that VLC player doesn't have the same issues

Hi.

Not clear from this comment if the issue is BT or the player. If you are playing the same music over speaker, do you get stalls as well?

Re: Bluetooth issues with Google Play app

As I mentioned, the bug seems a compatibility issue peculiar to the Play Music app, VLC seems to be behaving itself unless I look at the Google News feed while playing and there's a video on it, even if I don't play the video.

I didn't use VLC until I had issues with the Play app.

I don't understand why Android doesn't have better sandboxing between apps, it seems a real Achilles' Heel. Checking in safe mode is all very well, but trying to distinguish which 3rd party app is causing an issue is next to impossible unless you only have a very few apps installed.

Matt I'm not sure I understand your confusion or your question?

What happens is I'm playing music over bluetooth to a speaker and the sound to the bluetooth will cut out although the song appears to still be playing on the app. I have to fiddle about with track skipping and volume to get it to resume.

While it initially suggests an issue with bluetooth, the fact is the issue doesn't seem to occur with VLC over bluetooth, so perhaps the interaction between Google Play Music and Bluetooth is the issue, I'm not a programmer.

You can help me get clear about it by testing it on speaker. Does it only cut out on BT?

Thanks,
