Connecting external monitor

2020-03-02, 19:38 PM

Hi,

Just a quick question: does the Moto One Zoom support external monitor thru USB-C? I’m puzzled, because at one place people said it supports it and somewhere else they said it doesn’t. Can someone verify this, please? Thank you so much!

Thanks for the info! Could you tell me which of your Motorola phones support it? Planning on purchasing a phone soon, that supports it. Thanks!

Connecting external monitor

It is weird indeed that you get such a reply from so-called "moto agents" but whatever they say I as a current Moto One Zoom owner successfully hook up my smartphone to HDMI input of my TV/monitor and use these as external displays. I use type-c multiport hub to connect (brand does not matter - pick whatever you like the best price/options/design) that I purchased for circa 30$. On a separate note I wish that other forum contributors either research more or do not reply at all without being confident in their replies. It looks most "agent" just voice official info while there are many undocumented features and unofficial solutions real users utilize

I'm glad it's working for you. I agree it would be great to see more peer-to-peer suggestions. Our Moto Agents, Advocates, and Admins (myself included), will only provide official responses. If the phone was not designed to officially support usb-c > HDMI, then that is what we are going to say. The reason is, while it might work for you it might not work for another user. Undocumented features and unofficial solutions are not one size fits all. I hope that makes sense. I appreciate you sharing your feedback though.

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, I do not agree on sporadic and inconsistent behavior of undocumented features like USB-c to HDMI - i.e. in all other equal conditions for two same model devices running the same FW the result will be EXACTLY THE SAME. As you can see other random people visiting this thread reports the same.

Now on the idea in general that I was trying to voice. Most people asking for smth. in particular does not give a heck what would official Moto's point of view be - they just want to know what the real life matter of fact is. Now when other users reply back and provide such examples and are also willing to research/guide and assist - this is what is called a good community. On contrary it does not do any good when an official "moto agent" even after several real life replies still insist on official point of view instead of reporting back to whoever the lazy freeloader engaged at Moto (who should provide adequate and ACCURATE summary on device's function but does not do it for whatever reason) so that such function reported and proved working become "official' and there is no misunderstanding and need for asking next time.

Hope this gives you 'official moto guys and gals' some food for thinking and improving current situation.

Best regards.

Artem-5, definitely agree with you. Moto agents should verify before claiming anything.
