Major Camera Problems w/ Zoom One

2019-10-27, 0:15 AM

So much for being a Camera phone. Yes if you want to take pics of your family, awesome pics. but I can do that with any camera phone today.

But if you want to use is for anything else forget it...

I do e-commerce for a living and take hundreds of product photos a week. I bought this to make my job easier or so I thought. What a nightmare... Auto mode, well forget that... I Have a professional setup, lights background, etc.... I set up my product and take a pic in auto mode and it takes a perfect white background and turns it gray and not even a solid gray but horizontal gray variations as the background. So completely useless. Which is fine since the manual mode is what I need. But would be nice if auto mode worked properly...

Now let's talk manual mode which is what I use... Pics are great but.....

I can not use the moto app as it is so outdated and lakes basic manual features.

First... I need overlay crop guides, specifically a 1:1 crop overlay. I can get this is 90% of the apps on the app store but not in the moto app.

So this right here means the app is useless to me. I need to run the pics in bulk through a program to auto crop and without the 1:1 crop overlay to line up original pic, this can not be done.

Now let's get to the useless manual features.

Shutter speed takes huge jumps. For example, it goes from 1/60 to 1/90 what happened to 1/70, 1/80?... and all the single stops in between like 1/61, 1/62, 1/63, etc... not being able to fine toon affects picture outcomes.

Next, white balance is off when it comes to a lot of colors. black sometimes almost looks navy blue and other colors well forget it can't even get close in manual white balance ie.... purples, grays blues. Other third-party apps do a much better job...

So if I could use the 1:1 crop overlay I could at least make use of the moto camera app. The proper shutter tuning would be a HUGE benefit as well.

So my options since the chances of getting MOTO to update their outdated camera app are ZERO...

So, that brings us to third party apps... They are completely useless with Moto One Zoom as there is an apparent exposure problem with the Zoom One with third-party apps.

I have tried about 8 different apps and all the same problems... See pics below... Taken with Open Camera App... I took two pics back to back. So the first one always comes out with the horrible gray in my backdrop. The second pic always comes out perfect white as it should.

Now with other apps is all over the place. Sometimes it is working just fine nice white background and other times it adds the gray it different ways. Sometimes a halo around the entire product and other times the corners are gray. Each app the effect is a bit different but it does happen in EVERY app I have tried.

So at this point, I am beyond fed up this so-called.... "CAMERA" Phone.

Let's sell people on how great our camera is and then include an outdated Moto Camera App that does not have the essentials like more precise shutter speed and crop overlays. Its 2019 square pics are essential for all you social media people with Instagram. As for me, I need square photos for Poshmark post. So not having the crop overlay makes the motos app completely useless. So I should be able to at least use a third-party app since Motos refuses to give us a half-decent app to use. But nope can't even do that because Motos Zoom One can't handle exposure properly..

BEYOND DISAPPOINTED.... COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY ON THE SO CALL "CAMERA PHONE"

ALL IT IS, IS A VERY GOOD WEEKEND TAKE PICS OF THE FAMILY CAMERA...

Here are two pics taken one after another with Adobe Lightroom app... Same issue.. First pic horrible gray second pic white background. Still a bit gray but 95% better. Take the same shot in Moto Camera app and background is perfect white. But ofcourse no 1:1 crop overlay to line up my pic and horrible shutter speed manual settings.

Seems on every third-party app the first picture taken it can not expose the white background ok. Right after snapping first pic I snap another and all is fine.

So what am I to do. Take two pictures for every product shot.... :(

Hi.

Please, both of you knock it off. Our rules require civility. (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Forum-Feedback/Moto-Owners-Forum-Site-Rules/td-p/3269704)

Please follow all rules if you want to participate.

We'll look into this - appreciate the sample photos. The cropping issue seems out of scope (though I'll bring it up) but the pictures should be more consistent.

Thanks.

How do you get gcam on one zoom? It's not available in the app store. Seems like a nice improvement.
