Do you if the Motorola one zoom has any water resistance or if it is hands free Amazon Alexa enabled like my Moto X4?

Which bright mind thought it would be a good Idea to name this device the one zoom. But then not make it an android one device like all the other Moto one models. They completely lost it there at headquaters and I want what they were smoking when they thought this was a good idea. Or is this the Moto way of tricking customers in buying devices with bad software support info thinking its an android one device.

Hi Community!

I have a question: is the Moto One Zoom an Android One phone?

Thanks!

This looked like a great mid range phone but not without Android 0ne support. Motorola One not Android One sounds like a bait and switch and hoping the potential customers don't know the differance. Motorola says their research tells them software updates are only a secondary reason customers buy their phones.

I didnt able to reply in the another topic.

After what they did with the Z2 Force Pie update i have some concerns with the One Zoom, but i"ll give a last chance for Motorola after 8 years. I read the article in digitaltrends.com and i don't like this behaviour - "With Motorola One Action and Motorola One Zoom, we are gradually testing how our Motorola One devices are received without Android One, given our consumer purchase insights showed the top purchase drivers are camera and design"

My first "purchase driver" is not the camera and the fancy design, not this. My primary consideration is the reliability and i think the regular security updates and minimum 2 OS update is the minimum requirements these days. I think the One, One Power, One Vision and Action are good mid-range devices but the One Zoom with higher specs, better camera doesn't deserve this support for more money?

I tried the Xiaomi Mi 8, the Oneplus 6T, Pixel 3a and last week the Pixel 3 and after this phones i always return to my Z2 Force. Some of these phones have higher spec, better camera in paper but in real life they dont offer much more for me. If the One Zoom is not good enough i'll moved to the Pixel 4 XL.

I agree that putting the Zoom under the Motorola One brand is quite confusing, and I hope Motorola will be quick to clarify their OS and security update policy regarding the Zoom.

While I doubt it was said explicitly anywhere, I still think it was sort of implied that the Motorola One line would be Android One phones. I have been assuming up until now, that the One after the Motorola word implies just this. Now it seems I was wrong, and I think I am not alone with this.

I do believe their research, that people do not care about the Android version. It is important to us nerds and geeks who know about these things. The majority of users simply don’t care or know. But using the Motorola One brand like this is confusing at best and abusive at worst, and I don’t think it was a good idea to begin with!

(Despite this it looks like a great phone, and I already ordered one.)

Well it quite clear to me the one now means one update.

Let me add the following also.

While this might be the case (users not looking for long support), the following happened just a few weeks ago. My friend went to a physical store to look for a phone for their kid. And what did the sales person there say? They recommended Nokia Android phones ”because of the long software support they are getting”. So maybe the consumers themselves are not looking for long support periods, but the sales people of shops are sure using that as an argument against phones that don’t come with Android One in this segment. Just something to think about.

(yes yes I know, this was in Finland, so the sales person could have a slight preference toward Nokia .... but the argument still holds true :) )
