What is your experience with Panda glass?

2019-11-16, 22:54 PM

I have G5S with GG3. No scratches, works fine, no protection... Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qareqD3-p9Y Watch: 1.54 - 2:05. Is Panda glass worse than GG3?

The reason I asked is because I want to know if I can put my phone on the desk, in my pocket without worrying about screen scratches. Anyone?

There is another video, with G8 Plus, and Panda glass. It looks good, but not as good as Gorilla Glass.

Hi.

Gorrilla, Panda and even soda glass are all still susceptible to scratches and breaking. The hardened glass displays (Gorilla, Panda) will resist scratches, that lead to breaks, but if they are in your pocket with your keys, etc., then they can scratch.

(Personally I've found that when I actually break a display, it's the result of a drop. I know a scratch makes the screen more likely to break, but most of the drops I've precipitated were straight-up that-phone-is-going-to-shatter-type drops. Scratch or no scratch, that glass is breaking! :smileywink:)

Thank you for your answer. I like this phone, but, screen-related reviews are not very good. I don't care about CPU.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Not very good?

I think Panda is very ok. I broke my first Motorola one Zoom after 8 days (got it in my Jacket (with Device in the pocket)between the Car-door and the body of the car and close the door & wondering why the door didnt want to close....). The upper front Glas isnt broken!!!! Its broken under the Glass. Bad thing, the device seems ok but the display turned on. Bad thing. I destroyed a brand new Device so short after launch. :(

Motorola Germany cant help. After so short time after launch, they didnt got any display replacements. but i think a replacement would be very expensive. So i have to buy another One Zoom.

I just wanted to say that the glass does not seem to be so bad. it does not even split when you hit a car door. ;)

The broken device looks like new. Only under light i could se the damage.

It was my first Motorola Device i broke (I owned just about everyone (G,X,Z,One).

But i use a Omoton Glass Protector on every device.

I broke the glass on my phone once while playing with a dog....

But I don't want to use screen protection. And I don't want to find out the hard way if it's really easier to scrath it than GG3. It's probably ok.

Thanks!

The front glass of Motorola One Zoom is Panda while the back is GG3.

Just by feeling it, the back feels more sturdy while the panda glass seems too brittle.

It doesn't bother since I went to Mobile Outfitters and applied full body protection. I chose matte protection on both to avoid those nasty fingerprint smudges.

Only thing stopping me from buying Moto g8 plus is that they are not providing gorilla glass. I have used Moto g2, g3, g4, x4, z2 play. These all come with gorilla glass protection and were best.

Personally i liked most the display of Moto x4.

Amoled screens have over saturated colors.

While normal IPS LCD screens are a bit dull.

But LTPS screens are more better with both good contrast and more natural colors.

All i want is gorilla glass protection with LTPS LCD display from Moto.

I agree with everybody here The new G8 are very fragile, will crack or break very easy.... :(

The display looks very fragile, like made of real glass instead of durable,
good material.

My display cracked after second week of usage!! I thought is bad luck but It looks am not the only one.

Moto/Lenovo support will replace as it is not included in the warranty.

The display looks good but very FRAGILE. I will not recommend Moto anymore :((
