Razr+ development?

Hello,

Is it possible for me to install the unbranded/ unlocked software on a T-Mobile purchased razr+ ?

The RCS implementation on the carrier version causes issues with some contacts. I would imagine Motorola uses jibe mobile for regular RCS.

 Thanks for posting. I'm afraid this is not possible to install unbranded/unlocked software for a T-Mobile branded device. Can you tell us more details about how some contacts are not working correctly with this phone? We'll do our best to help you further.

Hi,

T-Mobiles version connects to RCS servers provided by T-Mobile whereas the unbranded phone would connect directly via Jibe / Google. 

I've had the T-Mobile version a few days now and have had challenges with RCS messages (loss of RCS connection, messages failing to send / deliver, slowness sending / receiving). None of which when I was previously on a different unlocked device where RCS is provided by Jibe. 

The phone and Google play system updates are sitting in may 2023. Is there a plan to provide more timely system updates w/ bug fixes and the latest security patches?

Just now I had to force stop Google messages as my RCS messages were struggling to connect. It either displayed waiting to connect or sending RCS message indefinitely. Force stopping seems to help move it along - not crazy about having to do that constantly. This is with a full 5G UC connection in T-Mobile.

Any advice?

This may be a T-Mobile issue that will hopefully get resolved.  I have an unlocked razr 5G (2020) that connects through jibe for RCS.  Yesterday I had all kinds of issues sending RCS to T-Mobile customers with T-Mobile branded Samsung Galaxies of various models.  The messages would send from my phone but never show they were delivered or never actually be delivered.

I'm sorry to see you're both facing these concerns. I'd recommend the next time it happens to get stuck sending or failing to send that you go to your quick settings/toggles and choose Share feedback. Then put in as much detail as you can about the current situation. Let me know if you do send the feedback, as I can then escalate it to our developers to be reviewed. Also, if you haven't already, please make sure your forum profile is updated with the current IMEI or SN.

I just sent in 2 examples of the issue this morning via share feedback. After a few force closes of messages, I was able to get the RCS message to send..

This is incredibly frustrating. I love the phone but this issue (assuming it's a T-Mobile branding issue at this point) is making me want to return asap.

Please give me some time to escalate this to our developers so they can review the concerns you're facing. You may get a notification to provide additional logs on your device. If you do, please follow the steps and submit the additional extended logs. This will help our developers root cause of the situation.
