Wifi but no Internet

I have the razor+ 2023. It will connect to all wifi routers but only a few will give an Internet connection. Home is ok but when out like Dentist, Doctor, Shopping wifi connects but says no Internet. My wife's phone, Samsung, connects to Internet as does an iphone to same wifi connections where raze+ says no Internet connection!

Re:Wifi but no Internet

I'm sorry to hear about your WiFi problem, @Jakleg. It's strange that your device connects to some WiFi networks but not others. Let us try resetting the network settings. This will revert your phone's network-related settings to the original state. It wipes saved Wi-Fi connections, Bluetooth devices, and VPN configurations on your phone. Everything must be set up from scratch. To do this:

  1. Go to Settings > System > Advanced > Reset Touch Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth > RESET SETTINGS
  2. Touch RESET SETTINGS
  3. Try to reconnect to Wi-Fi, cellular data, and Bluetooth, or try to share your Internet connection again.

Let us know how it goes.

Re:Wifi but no Internet

I need to clarify that razor+ connects to all routers/wifis signed into. Not all routers/wifi connections supply Internet connection. They say connected  but no internet. Phone was hard reset, same problem. Phone was updated through Motorola rescue assistant. Same problem. Something is preventing the razor+ communication to receive internet through different routers/wifi connections when away from my home router. Mobile data and Internet work fine at home and away when using only sims connection. I'm on Verizon if that matters.

It is interesting that it shows no Internet. We want to look further into this. You mentioned you already tried hard reset. Can you tell us how you did this? Are you always there in that area where Wi-Fi shows no internet when your phone is connected? If yes, can you confirm if this problem only happens to specific Wi-Fi connections or routers?

Let us know.

Re:Wifi but no Internet

Thank you for trying to help. I have a router in a out building physically connected to my house router by networking cable. I have tried an old Motorola Nexus on Android 8 it connects just fine. I also tried a old Galaxy note 20, it connects just fine. I tried setting up different scenarios on razr+ by changing the auto settings to manual IP, static, Mac addresses no change. I even pulled sims out and tried wifi to access internet, didn't help. I had the same wifi connections problems while at dentist and doctor which is how I discovered the problem. Razr+ was reset through entering bootloader with buttons on phone. Which was also how updated through Motorola software. One thing I did notice is that the IP addresses on old Motorola and note 20 when on wifi they gave an IP ending in a single digit as in 2 and 3 respectively at same time, as I had both connected at same time testing router out, razr shows ends in 3 digit number, 131.

Thanks for the details. Can you share a sample screenshot showing this IP address you're seeing?

Let us know.

Re:Wifi but no Internet

I've done a lot of testing on razr+ while traveling this last weekend, here's the results. The razr+ connected to 3 wifis and provided Internet connections, wifi4, wifi5 and a metered connection, on both G's. When I got back home I tried somethings with the razr+ and my out building router. I used, nexus6 with Android 8, oneplus7t with Android 11 , galaxy note20 with Android 13. I did hard reset on router so all settings were factory and fresh. All phones connected and provided Internet Access at the same time but not the razr+, it connected but said no Internet Access. I went into router settings and changed one single setting. I changed the LAN ip address associated with the modem to random numbers and BINGO, razr+ gave Internet access. Making static changes on razr+ to other phones settings that worked on all above phones did not work.    Only making router LAN changes did, used 192.168.254.250 worked, used 192.168.254.200 worked, used 192.168.254.130 worked. So there appears to be a glitch in the hardware communications line, maybe even the hardware itself in hand off, hand over or whatever as the razr+ is the only phone that will not provide Internet Access without changing routers modem LAN settings. The factory security  is WPA,WPA2 Personal. Still it makes one wonder why, when out in the wild roaming before I could not get Internet  Access on dentist, doctor office routers. I hope this can provide some ideas of what is happening. Any ideas why, by minds more phone system keen will have to figure this one out! I'll wait and look for that answer.
