Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

2013-11-26, 0:05 AM

Whatever I do, I can't seem to get bluetooth working on my Y2P.  I installed the latest ones from Lenovo's site, I tried using the generic drivers, I tried getting the latest ones from Intel... still no luck.

If I use the generic ones, I get a code 43 error in Device Manager.  If I try Lenovo's or Intel's it starts the device fine but Windows itself doesn't even think I have a bluetooth device.

What is going on? :(

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

I'm having the same issue, using the same Microsoft mouse, but seems to be happing 10+ times per day.  Sometimes it happens 2 -3 times in a row over a couple of minutes.  This is terrible....the question now becomes what is worse windows 8 or the Yoga 2 - might be a dead heat if this doesn't get fixed.   I'm posting a review on Quara, please feel free to vote it up.  Hopefully, we can provide Lenovo an incentive to fix the issue.

**SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME, a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro owner **

After two gruelling hours of research and troubleshooting, I concluded that A) A winodws update is causing this issue B) None of the solutions in this forum or other online forums have worked for me.

Here's what finally worked for me:

1) Uninstall the Bluetooth driver from the device manager and delete the driver

2) Reboot your Yoga

3) Launch Windows Explorer, navigate to partition "LENOVO (D:\)", then Drivers folder

4) in the Bluetooth folder, run the "Autorun" app.  (If it asks to remove a previous installation, let it do so, reboot the PC and repeat steps 3-4. )

The above will install the original Lenovo Bluetooth driver and fix your issue. It might also be a good idea to disable Windows updates, or at least create your own Restore Point prior to installing the updates so that you can roll back if needed.

Or just block that particular update. By doing so, any future updates that tries to update the same thing will be blocked too.

I have had all kinds of inconsistent issues with BT and used different methods to resolve the issue, uninstall and then reinstall the driver (because of an code 43), or just a simple reboot. My last issue required me to reinstall the driver because BT device was not listed in Device Manager. Does Lenovo acknowledge that there is an issue?

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

Both my bluetooth mice dont work with the Yoga2 pro.

Logitech M555b as well as the Microsoft Sculpt Touch Mouse

They both just stop responding after a while and requires a power on and off for the mouse before it can work again. Sometimes, even that doesn't help and the whole PC has to be rebooted.

AND if it doesn't work, i'll have to use 1 of the 2 valuable USB ports for the mouse.

I hope Lenovo has a fix for this.

I'll try the solutions in this thread to see if it works.

Thanks all.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

I uninstalled the drivers at device manager

Searched for keyword bluetooth in drive C

There were so many hits, i didn't dare delete them

Reboot the computer

Reinstalled as per instructions, from D drive, autorun,

unstalled drivers before installing drivers.

Didn't work.. My Logitech BT mouse still drops every now and then, but it reconnects easier though. Doesn't need to be switched on and off. It reconnects on its own.

Gonna try this next:  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Yoga-2-Pro-bluetooth-disconnecting-now-working-fine/td-p/1292287/page/7

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

So it doesn't work

My yoga 2 pro is made in feb 2014, and they still haven't fixed this issue in Feb 2014 production.

Bluetooth still drops

Have to switch  between Aeroplane mode, on and off to renable the bluetooth mouse.

I'd think that no one should buy this notebook till the issue is resolved.

I've told any prospective users on this issue and they are holding back on the buy.

The yellow color issues is also still evident. and those who need accurate colors also shouldn't get this.

Any fixes for bluetooth, which works, please update.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

Are there any Lenovo support folks engaged on this thread or any of the other bluetooth related threads that can help us shed some light on a more permanent fix for this issue?

This is completely unacceptable for the bluetooth stack to be so incredibly flaky on this machine. Too many folks have spent too much time, money, and effort on attempting to work around this issue and once I read that "turning off Windows Updates" is the suggestion, the conversation stops. This is not a valid work around.

Lenovo!? What's the word? Your Yoga 2 Pro drivers have at best a hit or miss success rate for these machines. What's the timeline for a permanent fix for this issue?

As a data point, I had an update to the intel experience driver (notified in the task bar) and installed the update. After rebooting the bluetooth device (from device manager) disappeared. I uninstalled the driver and the bluetooth device reappeared and my mouse started working again. I can't remember if I had installed the Intel Experience app or it was part of the lenovo install.

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

My partner and I both purchased our laptops in December of 2013 and have continuously had these bluetooth issues which seem to have gotten worse with recent updates. I just called Lenovo support and 10 minutes into a chat with a support engineer got disconnected (how convenient) this evening where the options I was given were to a) reinstall windows or b) send in my laptop for *repair*.

Forget about the fact that these forums have been hosting this discussion now for a few months and that many others are having this issue as well... just reinstall windows!!

This is unacceptable! Where is the product manager for the Yoga 2 Pro on these forums working with specific customers to directly troubleshoot, grab and share logfiles with the engineering teams, and work to resolve this issue for customers!?

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

After spending maybe 2 more hours on troubleshooting last night, we have indeed found a combination of steps that seemed to work for us which I think rest squarely on the power management check box noted in the other thread on this bluetooth topic. We've both been working all morning on our machines this morning and have not had a single disconnect. Crossing fingers this does the trick!

Lenovo support! Seriously!? On my support call the other night, suggesting that we reinstall windows and/or ship our machines to you guys to do something with ... as your first step!? Useless!

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

Folks, a quick update: after posting the above solution, I continued to have intermittent issues. Connectivity with Bluetooth was dropping every few minutes. Had to constantly go to PC Settings, Bluetooth devices, turn it off then back on. It would work for a few min then stop. In frustration, I purchased a small USB bluetooth adapter and am currently using it without any problems. Clearly, a driver or a BT hardware issue with these Lenovo's. I hope someone at Lenovo is listening to these complaints. This defect is class-action worthy and it's just a matter of time before the army of unhappy Yoga 2 Pro owners rises up and takes a stand. I didn't pay $1300 for a factory defect!! Did you?

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

I kinda have to echo the negative sentiment toward this situation. I've spent a long time trying to figure out a routine for fixing the disconnection issue with the bluetooth mouse. Furthermore, connecting a USB3 HDD into the USB3 slot seems to slow down and make the bluetooth mouse lag and feel sluggish. My setting right now is High Performance through the (updated) energy manager.

Since I uninstalled the driver and resinstalled it (as per the directions of someone else earlier in this thread), I haven't had disconnects in about 3-4 hours... But I'm not too optimistic.

Bought the top of the range YP2 a couple of months back and to be honest I didn't expect to be having Bluetooth issues like this, very armature on Lenovo’s part…  like others, mine drops out, locks up the whole PC and even lost the Bluetooth icon and setup page where it finds new devices.  Thanks to a post here I uninstalled and got it back again but it is still not working.

Haven’t called customer support but that seems to be a waste of time from what you've said, a support gimmick!

Sort it out Lenovo!  Fix the problem!  We all parted with our hard earned cash so please just don’t take our cash and run, or this will be the last LeNOvo device I ever buy.

Hellooooooo?  Are you out there LeNOvo?  Care to update the good people here LeNOvo??????  If not I guess I’ll be proactive in telling people about LeNOvo

Re: Yoga 2 Pro - Bluetooth Issues

Hi guys,

I've occur the same problem with an external keyboard : each couple of minutes and sometimes seconds, I get a bluetooth disconnection.
Always the need to click on "discover a bluetooth device" in order to take back the connexion.

I've found a temporary solution for this issue ... a very terrible solution but it seems to work : 2 days without any problem.

Download & install this software http://bluetoothinstaller.com/bluetooth-command-line-tools/btdiscovery.html

After that, you create a simple batch like this :

@ECHO OFF
:start
btdiscovery -s
ping -n 2 localhost>nul
goto :start

It's just a loop to launch the "discover" every 2 seconds ... (regulate the timing with this number : "ping -n 2 localhost>nul")

And beside that, a vbs script in order to make transparent the batch window :

Set oWShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
oWShell.Run """E:\bluetooth.bat""", 0, False
Set oWSHell = Nothing

Maybe a good solution only when your laptop is in charge ...

Thanks Undoubted, this helped my issue of the bluetooth option being absent from the PC & Devices menu. Unfortunately bluetooth is still disconnecting. I'm using the driver from Intel.

I experienced same problem, Bluetooth cut out every few minutes.
Go to device manager, to Bluetooth and properties.
Do not allow computer to unpower the Bluetooth chip to save power.
Since then Bluetooth works perfectly
