U410 & Office 2013 conflict with trackpad

2013-02-26, 16:17 PM

Hey,

I have a brand  new U410 ideapad and have just installed the new 2013 Microsoft Office suite.

When i load up Excel, everything works ok for the first minute or two, but then the pointer freezes for a moment and then after that, the trackpad will no longer accept two finger gestures, pinch zoom etc etc....

I am able to touch click and move the cursor around, it's literally just gestures that becomes unresponsive.

If i then restart my machine and use it without loading up Excel, all of the gestures work fine.

I have upated the drivers as per another post on here..

Anyone got any ideas as it's pretty frustrating! Especially with the new windows 8 menus etc... that really require a touch navigation..

Thanks

1.

Download the 16.3.9.0 driver from here

http://www.station-drivers.com/page/Synaptics.htm

2.

uninstall your current synaptics driver and reboot when it asks you to (your touchpad will still work, just without gestures and it will move slower than before)

3.

Install the new driver and restart if it asks you to

4.

Go to the mouse properties and the synaptics tab and adjust the touchpad to your liking

(here will be 2 devices listed, clicking the settings of one of them brings up manufacturer information, the other will bring up configuration)

5.

No more nonworking driver :smileyhappy:

just so you know, resuming from sleep will cause the synaptics driver icon to appear in your taskbar even if you have disabled it from appearing there, but it will go away automatically

and also, the new 4-finger flick option in the configuration settings will not work, but everything else should

message me if you need assistance

Thanks for sharing the driver link. This issue was driving me crazy.  It fixed the Word conflict issue but the right button on the touchpad is not working.  I do not know any other way to correct my spelling mistake if I  don't have right click option.  Any idea?

here's how to fix your right-click

go to your mouse properties in control panel

go to the device settings tab

select the first device shown and click settings (if that doesn't work check the second one's settings)

select the "clicking" section and click the gear that shows up

set "corner click" to be "secondary click" and click ok on everything :)
