Missing driver after reinstallation of XP

2008-04-04, 2:34 AM
Hi, all:

Just reinstalled the xp after over one year use of my t60p. everything seem to be fine except I missed one driver. That causes the "Found New Hradware Wizard" keep popping up.

This driver is under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers". There are three entries so far I can see:

1) Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF
2) PCI Device (wih question mark)
3) Primary IDE Channel

Could anyone tell me what kind of driver for this "PCI Device" I need or where I can find this driver? The "System Update" utility doesn't seem to be functioning right since it showed I installed everything. Actaully I had to install some of drivers (such as "Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver") manually.

Thanks In advance.

Dave

Hmm..

You have the Intel chipset support, or Lenovo System Interface Driver installed as well? Could be either. Atmel TPM is also an often-forgotten culprit.

not sure what this "Lenovo System Interface Driver" is (not listed in lenovo web site), but I am very sure both drives for "Intel chip set 5" and "Atmel TPM Device" have installed (they are on the list of "system Update").

thanks.

Whoops! I just re-read your original post and noted that this is for the T60 ... The  T61 has this "systems interface driver" but not sure about the T60. Sorry 'bout that.

I mentioned ATMEL TPM though because that's a common overlooked driver. In my case, actually, the driver installation was only successful on the third attempt. Don't know why that would be, but...

Thanks anyway. Would you please take a look at the entries under "Device Manager"-->"IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"? Maybe I can figure out what exactly I am missing here.

Another thought, maybe it is the driver for the docing station. do i need driver for that, where can i find this driver?

Hello,

If you go into the Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), select the questionable PCI Device, go to the Details tab and view the Hardware IDs and Compatible IDs entries, what is listed?
