Lenovo g585 problem with adjusting screen brightness

2013-10-05, 12:09 PM

I recently bought a G585 series laptop with Windows 8. After updating the display driver and installing catalyst 13.9 I cannot adjust the screen brightness at all. I have tried many times uninstalling catalyst 13.9 and installing previous versions but still the problem persists. If you guys have any idea of how to fix this I would be really grateful

Hi maska79,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that the Brightness feature is not working as expected even after re-installing the Display driver in your G585 Laptop below are the steps to check the issue:

1. Here are the Images to change the Brightness of the computer manually.

2. Below is the link to download the latest driver for the AMD website with an “Auto Detect” option.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Thank you for your reply. I downloaded the AMD driver autodetect. I get the following message "You have the latest driver" and unfortunately problem still persists.

Hi:

I'm currently running into the same problem (G475, Windows 8). I've tried the solutions reported here (and more), but the problem is still present.

I hope there will be a solution to this, and if I find the problem, I will post here the steps.

Hi lserranoc,

I’m sorry to hear that the brightness issue persists even after performing the above troubleshooting steps mentioned in the post. Hence the only available option to check if the issue is hardware related is to perform OKR (One Key Recovery).

Click here to download User Guide and perform OSRI (Operating System Re-Install) using OKR by clicking on OKR button provided in the computer, to perform OSRI and refer page no.1 to locate the OKR button and page no. 29 for the steps to perform OKR.

NOTE: Please backup the data in the computer before performing OSRI, as the data will be completely erased.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Seems like 'One Key Recovery' is the only solution. I wonder if  re-upgrading to windows-8.1 would work.

Hi GalaxyDust,

As the issue persists, OKR (One Key Recovery) not only the solution “System Restore” can be performed if the computer came with Windows 8 and it was upgraded to Windows 8.1. Below is the link to perform “System Restore” then a link with exact Windows 8.1 upgrade procedure.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.
