W520 BSOD 5u877.sys

2014-01-01, 17:00 PM

Hi, I just got my second BSOD in a week from "5u877.sys".  i found a couple of non-thinkpad mentions of this file as a richo camera driver.  As both times I got this BSOD was using skype, I am guessing that either the Thinkpad has this camera, or windows thinkis it does.

Anyone else seen this issue?

I cant afford to have any more BSODs, losing work and potentially corrupting windows.  Any ideas how I might permanently disable the internal camera, so I can for the system to only ever use no camera or an external one?

I have the Lenovo 3year NBD world wide support contract, but its useless I spain where I currently am as Spain does not honor this contract, and UK wont help me as Im not in UK.

I have not updated any drivers that I know of since it working  and it not working.  i have no idea how to find or check drivers for the device.

Go into the Device Manager, select Imaging Devices, right click on entry and select disable. My guess is that you may have an issue with the program that is using the camera for video conferencing (Skype?) Hope this helps.
