T540p Windows 7 Deployment via MDT

2014-04-01, 19:09 PM

The display drivers do not load. I have tried the drivers from the Lenovo model specific webpage as well as the driverpack.

I get two "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" entries. The 2nd one (NVIDIA according to PnPID) has a yellow bang.

What voodoo is required to get this to work?

This is really bad (good?) timing. We are in the middle of an RFI for laptops so this reflects poorly on the new ThinkPads. Considering they run more expensive (generally) and now this on top of it makes it difficult for me to continue to recommend these products.

I came up with a solution that does not involve your drivers.

This helped me too

This may work for you, presumably you use WDS:

Thanks but no. I have UEFI disabled.

I went straight to the vendor sites.

I have seen cases where the video drivers may not install properly if you are deploying Windows 7 and did not include the UMDF v1.11 update in your image.  It seems with the latest systems, many of the device drivers have a dependency on the Kernel Mode Driver Framework v1.11 and/or the User Mode Driver Framework v1.11.  These can be added to MDT as Packages using the .MSU files from Microsoft and the default MDT task sequence has an item that will install the updates ahead of injecting drivers.

Nope. Did that.

Odd isn't it? In any event it's working now so I'm happy.
