Vibe X2 - System update crashes.

2015-01-07, 7:57 AM

Hi

I'm expecting the update to prompt themselves, so I didn't notice that before.

I tried to check the System update manually to see what it'll said. When you try to open it, immediately you get the message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" and sent you back to the Settings.

The phone is Vibe X2-CU.

Any one know about this, could it be fixed and is it actually important to fix it?

Sorry, all the lenovo staffs here are from ROW develop team and we don't have the ability to support Chinese region devices. But to solve your issue, I think you can Google the website needrom for help. There are some roms for Chinese region devices.

I use the CU version because I wanted the dual SIM, however I'm from Europe. It seem that the CU version of the ROM is not as well supported as the EU version, which kinda leads to a little bit of regrets. I'm considering to try flashing the EU version of the ROM and abandoning the second SIM slot.

I know that Lenovo is big company and even the CEO is not aware of all that is happening, but as a staff member could you give an advice, should i go with the EU ROM to get what I like or to wait and see if eventual patch for the CU is coming? And how probable is to see EU ROM that support dual SIM for the phone?

i take the CU version too, and was quite perfect.

But the new VIBE UI, was terrific, android crash always, and it is not possible to open Google services.

I know that is the chinese version, but it is not possible that  Lenovo don t use an English version.

It is possible to downgrade?

Hi,

Those might not be good news to you but i'm afraid you will not be able to downgrade. You will have to find and flash the CU ROM that is put on the CU version of the phone that is sold out of China.

The reason for the trouble are coming from the CU version. It is sold in China and it's made for specific carrier. The version of the CU you can get outside of China have a some changes to the ROM. Normally the ROM does not contain any of the google services. This is the reason why the software update is blocked. If you allow the update to happen you will get the original Chinese version of the ROM.

As far as you option goes, as i said currently your best chances are to find the original version of the ROM that you had or a Flash recovery image of it. Another option is to Flash a different ROM, however the EU one doesn't support second SIM and one of the other have trouble using the 4G with the europeans carriers.

Hope that help you in someway, however if you decide to experiment, please note us in order to get more knowledge on the matter.

I have a Vibe X2-CU as well, purchased as well to support dual sim.

Alas of late, System Update just crashes and it is not recognized on Windows as a USB device any more either. I would like ideally to solve both problems, upgrade to Android 5 and to get the USB working on it. But am a little lost as to how ...
