Y50-70: Hangs on startup

2015-01-19, 15:06 PM

Hello good people of planet earth,

Problem - my 1-month old Y50-70 hangs on startup from time to time, it happened 3 times now. The very first time mouse buttons stopped working and system/cursor started lagging with every mouse click (both right and left) totally out of nowhere, so I restarted the laptop and after that it stucked on the balck screen after Lenovo logo (#1). The cursor flashed as busy every 5 seconds and I was able to move it. Since I didn't have any restore points, I decided to restore Windows to factory settings. After restoration it hanged again, but now on "Now you're going to set up your microsoft account" or something like that (#2). So, I restored it again and this time problem was fixed. I scanned Windows with anti-malware programs, checked HDD with S.M.A.R.T and started to using it very carefuly, but today after restarting (don't remember exact reason) it stucked on "Please wait" screen after black screen which appears after Lenovo logo (#3) . God **bleep** it. Now I restored Windows to a 3-days-ago point. It works, but for how long? I'm pretty sure this problem is going to reoccur in the future. How to fix this permanently? I want to find the very core of this problem. I'm guessing it's something wrong with the sofware but it might be technical problem as well. Which programs are best for technical perfomance and software check-up?

Do the Storage, memory and motherboard test from this link -

http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/lenovodiagnosticsolutions/downloads

Makre sure to download correct versions of the tool (32 / 64 bit)

If you have a SSD in the laptop, it could be faulty. This does not seem to be a windows/software issue.

It passed. No problems were detected in the scan. What else could it be?

So, you did all those tests and it passed?

You can try this sfc/ scannow in  command prompt.

This will tell you is there is something wrong with your windows.

If this doesnt work, then contact Lenovo in your country for repair service.
